Now That I Found Love

Sounds pretty good. Hard to tell with no bass in there. How many guitars is that? Sounds like maybe 2 kind of on top of eachother? If so, maybe spread em wider and get a bass in there! :D

Hard to tell with no bass in there.

Agreed. Its hard to tell what the harmonic structure is supposed to be without the bass.

Right now, the whole thing sounds a bit too much like "Band in a box". The keyboard stuff is too close musically to the guitar stuff, its in the same range and almost doubling. The song is good and the vocals are too, as usual. It just needs a bit more of an arrangement, and a bass.;)

Beautiful song. I think it needs a solid bass line for more rhythmic drive and a raunchy-toned lead guitar to balance out the sweet-toned vocal and rhythm guitar. A little edginess with the sweet would increase the impact. Lennon/McCartney come to mind in that regard.

Thanks Greg, David, Tim.

Greg_L - Hard to tell with no bass in there....and get a bass in there!

I agree - it isn't complete without some bass guitar. I'll get Mike to put something down for that asap.

DavidK - The keyboard stuff is too close musically to the guitar stuff, its in the same range and almost doubling.

True - I've got to find some method of either panning or eq'ing the two so they are not so close.

XLR - raunchy-toned lead guitar to balance out the sweet-toned vocal and rhythm guitar
Good idea - I think placement will be paramount as there is little space between lines.

Another nice love song Gerry. You are one of the romantic guys ido...no problem telling your woman you love her with a song...or the world. I think that is great!! I bet you two will spend the rest of your lives together.;)

BASS

pleeeeeeeeeease!!:D:p

Sounding good man...I think once it's a bit fuller sounding, it wil really be nice. :D

I really like the song. It has a solid feel like a finished track except of course for the missing bass. I would do nothing more than add it and see where it gets you.:)

Sounded great to me, very nice and mellow tune.

I too miss the Rickenbacker bass:D

You have a very delicate soft voice, very impressive:cool:
Its something I hear very rarely:)

Looking forward to hearing it with bass:)

Not yet - maybe no one will notice?:D

Lovely song Gerry,
Yeah bassdard be nice.
You could throw on a bass line from your guitar's E & A just to give a hint at the structure
I reckon if you did the L hand of the keyboard accompaniment an octave up & with a few simple arpegg's that mirror some finger pickin' you'd remove the prob of closeness. I suggest that because a few times you picked out a note with your R hand & they rang through a lot clearer & gave a dynamic to the song.
You write such lovely songs so lovingly that I'm eternally jealous.

Pretty

Very Pretty song, just seems to need to come alive. The sound is kind of sterile. It's like you've got all of the key elements, except the bass of course, but there is no interplay between the instruments. It's like there needs to be some emotion in the song. Anyhew here's what I would try.

- some back up vox like whooos and ahhs with a female singer

- kit back on the piano a bit

- bass guitar

- maybe some compression on the whole mix to kind of smooth the instruments over

Nice song though for sure

Is this the case of the missing bass? Come, Watson, the game is afoot!;)

Thanks Ray - I'm going to leave the bass playing to a real bass player ;) I can work on the piano part though... :)

Thanks steppingonmars - good suggestions which I will incorporate as this progresses.

Sweet song! Well written and nicely sung. Voice reminds me of Eric Clapton (...meant as a compliment!) Some nice sweet Lead would give the instrumentation more colour, but you know what I miss more than the bass? VOCAL HARMONIES! Loads of them, I'm sure they would fit great!
Cheers
Joey :D

Nice song Ido! I finally got to listen. I have to listen to soundclick late at night, or else it won't play on my internet. I have satelite internet, and when all the kids get home from school and start their "myspacing," the bandwidth gets all eaten up, and my system slows to a crawl...
Well written, fo sho.
I think your mix sounds nice. I agree with most of the suggestions, but I'll offer a few things I haven't heard yet.
After getting your bass guitar, here's what I would try:
1. double the guitar part, and pan each hard left and right to get a stereo thing going on.
2. Nix the piano.
3. add an organ part... I think an nice B3 fading in and out would do this song wonders... something that is sparse most of the time, and comes on stronger during the chorus.
4. If your setup allows for it, try having your drums play a high-hat during the verse, and the ride cymbal during the chorus.

That's about all I can add to it. Even as it is, I think it's a great song. But, I'm a sucker for a love song. Love is all that really matters, in the end.

Peace!

~Shawn

Thanks Joey and Shawn - appreciate the listen and the good suggestions....
