Hey Rockket,

Don't worry about not getting a response right away, it's a little slow lately......

The clean guitars in the intro sound really nice. The vocals, I'm not crazy about the treatment you have on them (short reverb or delay???). Gives it a sort of "bathroom" sound. (I don't mean it sounds like crap, I mean it sounds like it was recorded in a small cement/tile room :) )

The bass sounds good. Either the drums or the overall mix might have a bit too mich low end. There's just an overall slight boominess in the low low's.
Chorus sounds nice, nice vocals. The chorus is still playing in my head, so that's a good thing.

I think the boominess might be from the canned drums. I ran it through my mixer and tried to get it to sound decent going in.

I overdid it.

Thanks for the response. I'll see what I can do about the lower mud.

And I'll see what I can do about the verb on the vocals.

vocals sound off pitch..... :(

Yes, I noticed that but tried to keep my comments on the mix. But the vocals in the verse sound as if you're singing in a different key than the guitar. But it seems to come together well in the chorus.

I don't have a mix comment that hasn't been mentioned but enjoyed the tune. The song sounds sincere.

Let me put it back into Reaper and apply the Reatune to it and see if I can fix it. I messed with the chord progression a bit, maybe I fouled myself up...:o

Its a cool song. This is a cover, Sonicflood??

The vocals are muddy. Too much processing maybe?

If not, it's beyond repair because my singing is terrible.

You aint Pavarotti, nor are you bad. Its something else: Try boosting the main one up and taking some of the reverb off of it. Cool tune.

Thank you! Read my comments on your piece. You'll understand why your post means a lot to me.... :)

Hi Rokket!! How is the family doing?

I like the soft rock n roll feel you gave to it, taking it a bit out of the "praise" sound realm of the original...it actually has a sorta righteous brothers flavor in the rhythm...nice touch with the tambourine...but where's the cowbell?:D

Other than no drums to hear, I have nothing on the mix.

I think it would be cool to have your kids sing some chorus with this, when you get home.:)

My wife and daughter are here with me in San Diego. We are pretty far from the studio, but we are singing together (my daughter is singing, I'm playing guitar).
Thanks for the listen!

I'm confused...that sounds like your singing..

I think its a great song in general. We do this at my church alot and we can't have it without some ROCKIN guitars. So thats a plus! The vocals just hit my ears funny in the chorus when you double it up. Maybe you should go for a different verb style too. I know you have heard that alot, but it would really help it out a bit. I have been messin with some stereo delay lately; putting half note delay on the left and quarter note delay on the right. You could mess around with anything I LOVE IT!... good song dude, I'm glad to hear it on here :)

Thanks!

I mainly did this to practice singing because I suck so bad at it. I think the main problem with the vocals is the performance more than the effects.

Using a pitch adjusting plugin leaves artifacts that people are hearing as a chorus or heavy reverb. I am telling on myself, it's not a heavy verb: it's Reaper's ReaTune.

I say lay off of the reatune. I think it isn't helping much just making that strange vocal effect. This song needs the authenticity that you're giving it, just without the reatune sound. It's making the vocals come through weird. It does get boomy ... but I like the boomyness when the chorus comes in. It strikes a good chord with me. The dynamic change comes through well and fills in nicely. I think your vocals are very upfront in the mix. Maybe if you pull them back a bit it will sound a little better. Cool song. Cool rendition of it at least, is this your derivative of the real song? Good performance. :)
