Modded Valve Junior

I picked up the Orange Cab today! That cab is AMAZING in every way, shape, and form.

The head should be here Saturday! I'll post some sound clips of it AS SOON as I get it!
 
i just got a modded valve junior head (i had a v2 non-hum combo that i have regretted selling) with a few mods from the 18 watt site to make it more "marshall-sounding" including graded caps and resistors and a small circuit change. it's coming with an eh 12ax7 and a jj el84, but i'll swap at least the 12ax7. any valve junior users here switch out the output transformer? if so, is this hard to do? i'm thinking of either trying to do this myself or asking my buddy's tech to do it.

I was saying that you got a better deal than I did. I bought the new amp and kit, whereas you essentially had someone else do it for you and got it cheaper.
 
Yea.... That amp was a steal! Also, the cab was also a MAJOR steal as well!!
 
man im quite jealous...i want that whole rig..especially that orange cab...especially after seeing the mars volta yesterday.

I'm going to take the front piece off and make a Custom one. I'm thinking about putting a hole with some metal grill so you can see the tubes glowing through the front......

looks pretty sweet.
 
I'm also looking into getting some new tubes for it, so I can have a darker distortion.....
 
Looks cool but a little akward since the epi head is so small haha. I think it'd look similar with an orange tiny terror as well...but the rig sounds sick and thats all that matters.

Ha.....Im going to Re-Tolex the Head in the exact Orange Tolex, as well as make a new front piece matching the orange cab.

I'm using the 12 in my fender combo, though I do have another cab sitting around with a 15 and a horn in it. It's quite interesting to say the least. I dig both though.

I've tried my VJ on several cabinets my favorite to date is a Vox 2 - 12"
sounds great for guitar or bass. The only mod I've done if you can call it
that is a set of JJ gold pins. My VJ has so much output I normally set it
at 9 oclock.

I think the speakers in the 2-12 are some inexpensive celestions with vox labels.
The cabinet is 16ohms and puts out a ton of sound.
