I have a LOT of things to report, but I am exausted. I'm going back to NAMM tomorrow. I am hoping to post some news on Monday

OK heres SOME of the news. They will be sending new ribbons. I met with one of the engineers (in a private room) and an interpreter. He is stumped on the ACM-3 (and a few others) ribbon problems. Before going this morning, I opened several of them and they were all OK. I wanted to bring him some defective mics, but all of them here are good. The shock mounts will be coming, as well as the aluminum cases for the ACM-1. I didn't realize that these were available with OR without the case, alond with 2 different prices. The prices I quoted were WITHOUT the case even though I stated WITH the case. They realized the communication problem and will honor what I posted (with case) I thought that was cool. They will also honor the ACM-3 shock mount. They had my finished mic pre and other gear, let me take them home, but I HAD to bring them back today. They sound GREAT. They don't look anything like the original Prototype (Behringer style) anymore. It broke my heart to have to bring them back today, but There is the cost of making gear from scratch. This cost will be absorbed by the amount of orders I get. I will try to post some pictures tomorrow. Just a WILD guess would be around $200.00. In the next few days (maybe a week) I will post what is under the hood and give some specs. Oh and I got the screw on rings for the (I think) 670. I feel they are really trying to work with us. They said "I'm so sorry" more times than I can count. The owner of the company let me keep my prototype drum-set mics which I will post a pic tomorrow. (my feet are killing me)

wow-- awesome! did you get to try the compressor? any iron (transformers) in the pre?

Oh I almost forgot to mention the reason they didn't bring the shockmounts with them. They are going from here (NAMM) directly to the show in Germany, and were over their allotment (weight) coming here. They had to leave quite a few things behind, and I was gratefull that they brought these prototypes.

Great news Chance!
I am looking forward to the pre and the comp.

Get some rest.(whatever that is...)

Again... great news. Cain't wait to see the pics of the new gear.

Personally, problems included, I'd buy more ribbons if they were offered again next go 'round. I've been holding off getting some ribbon material and experimenting because I've been waiting to see what arrangements were going to be made with the manufacturer. I still think they're a great deal... ESPECIALLY if they get the ribbon issue worked out.

I am really surprised at all the interest/feedback I am still getting in spite of the ribbon sag problem. The majority of folks are saying that with replacing/repairing the ribbons, they are still happy with them. Go figure. I also brought home the prototype phantom powered ribbon and will put it on trial in the next few weeks. I seem to have trouble uploading jpgs here on HR. I don't know why. I have no problem on other sites.

the file upload size limit here is a little small compared to some other messageboards. also you may be trying to upload an unsupported file format (?)

I'm good with my purchases. The 310's are killer. The 6802 is another "color" for the mic cab and the AMC 2 I bought to be moded. Can't wait to see the pres. Any word on the new cap for the 310's?

if i'd bought the mic from a store/retailer, i'd be somewhat ticked...if i paid a considerable amount of money, i'd also be ticked

but considering the situation the mics were delivered under, and the cheap-o price, i can deal with having to swap out a ribbon

Since there seems to be no reported badness with ACM-4 ribbons it might be safe to keep them available for the next GB. I'm happy enough with mine that I would buy another, possibly more. Once I do the transformer swap I'll decide then how many I want.

It's really a good deal for the money considering the commercial versions are over twice the price.

chance, i spoke to lucas and he's going to email you tonight. he thought he'd just gotten ripped off or something (he's not active on this forum).

I don't understand. He paid A LOT for all these mics. What is the problem ??

Same here - it doesn't matter that they're under the size limit - the site won't acknowledge my modem's handshake for a jpeg upload ever since Dragon revamped the site last year.
I have to convert the jpegs to gifs, and then there's no problem uploading. Trouble is, gifs don't compress as well, and picture size has to be smaller.

OK heres SOME of the news. They will be sending new ribbons.

Does this mean those of us with sagging ACM2 & ACM3 ribbons will be able to exchange them for better tensioned ribbons? That would be great if so.

Both my ACM2 & ACM3 sag. The ACM3 sounds pretty good for elec guitar despite the fact. The ACM2 is too dark to be useful (I assume due to sag).

I feel content enough with the two mics given their cost - no complaints here. However, if the manufacturer is willing to replace them to ensure a continued relationship of good faith then I'd like to take them up on the offer if that's the direction we head.

Chance...
I've never tried uploading pics to his site, but use another pic service, and link them without a problem. I'm more than happy to post your pics to my site and link them here for you... I'll PM you e-mail.
