Hi all,

I'm gonna build a vocal booth with my dad, the dimensions are 910cmx910cmx210cm. It's just a box with a door inside my room.

my problem is, having such as small space, how can I bring fresh air inside of it? A fan will be too noisy I think,,,

Can anyone help me with this problem before I start building this booth?

thank you

its going to sound like a small box... is there another alternative?

I wish there was,,, I'm gonna biuld this because my room is too noisy and also because I don't want my neighbor to be complaining about the noise (last time he called the police :( )

He is totally right... you will not like the sound at all. You can't eq it out and you can't add any effects that will make it sound better... I learned the hard way..

if I need to build something bigger than that, how large you think it should be?

what do you think about the reflexion filter from SE electronics?

I must agree. I have a small vocal booth right now that I built. Mine is about 3.5' x 3' x 7' feet. I really wasnt able to go any bigger. The sound quality is OK with rappers but when I have real singers it sounds wierd. Its very discouraging and makes singers feel self-concsious and u definetly don't want that from a singer.

Now I'm thinking of tearing it down and getting a SE Reflexion Filter (like u showed in the pic) or the Auralex PVB (Portable Vocal Booth).

When neighbors are an issue try doing stuff during the day. They're usually gone anyways and its ur right to make some noise anyways, within reason.

Good luck & let us know what u decide on...

I've got to rip mine apart. I am going to add the owens 703 on all the walls and ceiling and i was also thinking about that reflexion as well. It is hard when you have a small space to do things in... I just bought the house i'm in, but i got stuck with a tiny room for my studio... my previous place was an apartment where i too had lots of neighbor issues. I'm so loving the house because i'm the landlord and i can crank up without any problems... What i did at the apartment was turn off everything at 10pm. That was the time everyone was in bed... up until then i tried monitoring the sound level... i had the security come over often, but when they got there.. they didn't hear anything...

910cm x 910cm is 30 ft x 30 ft or 900ft2 (for those not metric-able)? That's a good sized room. It would be nice if you could raise the ceiling a bit, even on one side. Also, try not to build a square. 6m x 9m would be better.

Or did you mean 91cm? In that case, yes it is small, you'll need to completely deaden all interior surfaces with absorptive material such as 2" thick rigid fiberglass insulation (covered in fabric). As for fresh air . . . well . . . open the door every now and then! Wave it a couple of times, and you've got the air exchanged!

Yeah did he mean 910mm perhaps? Thats about 2.5 feet. Jeez thats small...

So what is the suggested minimum size then?

yeah, I mean 91cm,, haha,, it's because I live in Japan and the space here is a real problem...

Think I'll buy the reflexion filter,,,, hope it's a good deal for the money... when I get to live in a bigger place I'll start thinking about a propper vocal booth,,,,,

Thank you for all your help
