I stopped by my local music store/repair shop to pick up my guitar-I got it set-up and a bone nut installed:D-and they had an extremely clean, well kept Peavey Delta Blues amp that someone had traded in. It's a tube amp, 3 12ax7's and 4 el84 tubes-the same as the Peavey Classic 30 that lots of people here rave about for recording and gigging-except this one has a built in footswitchable tremolo & an overdrive channel and a full range 15" speaker.
I decided pretty much then and there it had to follow me home-since a Christmas bonus almost covered the cost of it-it sure sounds nice too. There is a post in the MP3 clinic that I played some blue with it thats called Peavey Delta Blues demo tracks which is mostly some of it's cleaner tones. Check it out when you have some time-it's a great amp for a good price.

Those cleans sound damn good anfont. It sounds like a blues machine!

I agree with Tele, great sounds. Sounds especially good when there's someone good playing through it. :p Nice playing.

Wonder what a Ukulele would sound like through it? Delta Blues Uke!

Hey thanks a lot, I was just trying to do something basic to demo the tones. The first guitar was a Fender Strat on the in between neck & middle pickup, 2nd was a Firebird copy, an Epiphone Sheraton, & a Paul. There is an alternate clip on the MP3 clinic with some basic slide on a Tele as well.

Nice catch!!

Thanks, I have been looking for a Classic 30 for a long time-so to me this is a better score than a Classic 30 as the tremolo is an excellent addition to me.

Sounds sweet Anfontan! What mic did you use?

A clone of a Shure Beta 58-I use it quite regularly for guitar cabinets and vocals-kind of a swiss army knife of microphones.

Hey Tony!! Nice self gift giving. I didn't give myself any this year...leastways not yet...:D

Hey true, haven't seen you in a long time. Hope you had a good Christmas. Get (or give) anything musical as a gift?

Hey Blues.....All is great here in my part of the world. I have been collaborating with JCM900 and it has been quite the experience for me...he has helped me a LOT. An excellent musician and I think he rocks!! There will be something to post soon..if I can stop fuking up...:D

I never get anything musical from others, unless I buy it for myself. And with my luck, IF they were buy me something musical, it would probably be Guitar Hero:eek:.... I don't think anyone around me, hears the words musically..it always comes through as bath stuff....clothes...appliances...I am surprized I haven't gotten a Locksmith pick, when I ask for picks and I can only imagine what I would get when asking for guitar strings...:D

This is the offset year for me anyway. No gifts. I have too many to buy for and last year's and the year before's musical Christmas spree was enough for 5 Christmas's!! Although, I did order a violin for my youngest granddaughter, which was promised by me and not a Christmas gift per say...it's never came in to the store...so still waiting on that. My kids and grandkids never really ask for things from me anyway...I like that about them a lot... I just do it...lol

How was your Christmas Blues?

cool, how'd you like the nut job? what'd it cost and how long did it take?

I was just getting ready to buy one, and talked myself out out it for the 4th time....as I don't want to fk my guitar up again with a DIY.

anyway, nice recording, sounded like a single coil?

with that amp I think your supposed to sit behind it, hence the knobs on the back. I was reading its from the old lap steel days, the amps sat in front of the musicians. pretty strange to sit behind the amp, though makes sense why the knobs are back there......trivia.....or trivial? :p

I think the bone nut has mellowed the tone somewhat, it is on a Tele kit guitar with a Dimarzio rail type single coil sized humbucker in the bridge. For the nut and installation it was $75, the guy used to work for Gibson in the Memphis factory and he does good work, I waited maybe a couple of weeks since the bone nut had to be ordered.

There are 4 different guitars on the sound clip-first was a Fender Strat in between neck and middle position, a Firebird copy with the mini humbuckers, an Epi Sheraton, and a les Paul-each played a 12 bar progression. The Strat was total clean channel and the rest had just a touch of overdrive to them.

I think they were going for the early Fender tweed look and copied the knob layout. I have a classic 20-the 15 watt version of this amp, and it's laid out the same. Check out the picture of an old 50's era Fender deluxe-they were sure going for that vintage look!

I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys have come up with. Working with others is always a benefit - you pick stuff up that you might not have come across otherwise, and so do they.

I never get anything musical from others, unless I buy it for myself. And with my luck, IF they were buy me something musical, it would probably be Guitar Hero:eek:.... I hear ya. I think people just steer clear of the whole musical gift scene because it's easy to get it wrong. Guitar gear is very personal, and unless you're certain that you know what the person wants, chances are you'll buy something that they won't like or have a use for.

My Christmas gift buying has left me broke. I wanted to get something nice for my parents, because they've been really helpful and supportive during the year, so I splashed out a bit. (A bit too much ). That's great that you ordered that violin for your granddaughter. Hopefully it will be the start of a long and happy musical career. It means she'll never be bored.

How was your Christmas Blues?

All in all, True, it was great. I needed the break, and just to sit back for a couple of days has been wonderful. It was very family oriented, which was nice - we went up to my aunt's house on Christmas day, and today everyone came round to ours for dinner. My Dad got out his guitar and played a few tunes, which is always good - he knows some strange, old folk songs.

Hope the new year goes well for you, True.
