i've owned a rockerverb 50 for a few months now, and i still giggle a little bit every time i turn it on.

OK, here goes. Excuse any crappy playing, as I just plugged in and played. I can get you a picture of mic placement, but basically I used an SM58 copy at the edge of the cone, facing the area between the cone and the dust cap. The cab, as said before, is a stock Marshall 1960A. I miced the top left speaker, if anyone cares.

All of the clips were recorded with the amp on the 15-watt setting using a stock 2003 Highway 1 Telecaster (bridge pickup). The tone is always at 11:30 because I like it at noon but the Tele is a bit bright. The volume was a decent talking-to-mild singing level, so there isn't a lot of power tube crunch with the single coils. If I can get it a little louder later this week (I'm in an apartment), I will get you some clips with that, too. These are just preliminary examples. I can do more if anyone wants, and use different guitars. Sorry, I don't currently own any guitars with p-90s or Dearmonds. P-90s really sing through this amp, though. Also, 192kbps is the most I really care to use.

Clean Volume 1:00 Tone 11:30 Gain 9:15

Warm Volume 10:00 Tone 11:30 Gain 12:00

Hairy Volume 9:00 Tone 11:30 Gain 2:00

Gritty Volume 9:00 Tone 11:30 Gain 3:00

Gain Cranked Volume 9:00 Tone 11:30 Gain Cranked

thanks for posting the samples man, much appreciated, it sounds awesome. i really like the "hairy", thats my favorite.

now i must save to buy one.

well looks like my amp desicion is made..

i found a killer deal on an orange ad15 combo and i'm buying an orange 2x12 cab

it'll end up looking something like this

couldn't find both images at the same angle but that's the basic rig i'll be working

I tried out a tiny terror

it was pretty fuckin cool man.. but i'm just not sold on not having 2 channels..

Try your volume knob. Too many guitarists just leave the volume and tone on "10" all the time, and channel-switching amps with too much gain encourage it. A nice sensitive moderate-gain amp like the Orange, you can roll off the volume at the guitar and your amp will clean right up.

yeah this is very true.. the amp i'm getting is very similar to the terror.. it too only has 1 channel but i may take this into consideration.. volume knobs on a guitar aren't there to just look pretty hahah

My preference is for a really good single-channel amp turned up to moderate overdrive, plus a couple of pedals that are my "channel switches". If I want a cleaner sound, I back off the guitar volume or lighten my touch. If I want more grind, I use the Rat, or the Germ, or some fuzz, depending on the sound I want. I can't do metal or modern sounds that way, but for my own retro-heavy playing style it's great! (I mostly use a Trace-Elliot Velocette, which is very similar to the Orange TT with a Celestion Vintage 10 speaker).

yeah i'm probably as far away as possible from playing metal stuff.. I like a nice overdrive and that warm clean sound.. It's nice to have 2 channels on amps but at the same time you have to know how to dynamically play your guitar.. It's nice to get different tones just by how you're playing.. this is why it's all about the tubes.. and all about the orange!

Can the tiny terror get a really nice open clean sound that u could just use pedals through? Cause if it does, then i'd just rather get that than half the other heads i was considering.

it's seems like it can.. but if you're playing in a rehearsal or live setting i'm not convinced it'll be able to at the volume you need.. you'll be able to get a nice clean..with a bit of overdrive to it..

turns out I ended up getting a rocker 30 combo. The other amp i was looking at was rad but the seller was being sketchy about sending it to canada.. I picked up a rocker 30 combo for 1000$ shipped to canada... can't beat that.. it's only a couple months old and i'll even have warranty with it! i'm stolked

I really like the gain cranked clip, sounds awesome. Have you got any samples playing through something with humbuckers?

...

I use my TT with a 12" Celestion Alnico Blue.

The first time I did I was so excited, I peed a little...I'm not ashamed. :D

VWYF11,

Not yet, but I will put some up when I get a chance.

What about orange crush stuff? Gotta ask, I'm a cheapskate.
