Mic pre not working :[

and it's not the power supply thats broken. i have the normal art tube mp preamp and when i plug it in, it dosnt turn on. ocassionally if i just barely plug in the power supply or something like that, the LED light will start to glow but i dont know why, probably just some electrical charge happening or something.the LED fades away after a while and won't turn on at all when i just plug in the power supply. i tried getting a new power supply, the One Spot power supply, but i have the same problem.
any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks!

But have you tried one of the following?

1) Return to store

2) Send in to get fixed

ha, well its not under warranty. if i send it in i might as well buy a new one since its only like $40. and would they take a look at it if i brought it to guitar center?

The ART Tube MP (and most Alesis) and other similar gear runs on a +9V AC power supply. Plug in a DC one (like the One Spot) and the gear won't work.
If you have the correct supply and it fails to function, you might be better off buying a new one from musiciansfriend.com for $29 or so.

Don't bother taking it to your local Guitar Center for them to check out... I doubt that they'd be able to do anything remotely intelligent like troubleshooting your gear's problem.

That was going to be my third suggestion.

You essentially bought a "disposable" pre. I mean ... it is what it is.

I would suggest opening it up and look at the connections between the AC Input jack and the Circuit board, it just might need to have the connection resoldered.....

Find someone with a volt meter vtvm and check the power supply first.
Just cause the little light comes on for a second doesnt mean much.

Nope, guitar center employees won't diagnose and fix your pre. Most guys that work there don't have advance electrical knowledge.
