(I'm still scratching my head about that one bonerman...... have you ever held any kind of speaker in your hand.........? If it's broken, it's broken. Unscrew it and DO WHAT ??????)
They are active monitors, that's gonna be tricky! Matty here doesn't seem like he'd be up for unscrewing anything anyway.![]()
Are you kidding me?
As if I didn't already do all that.
And I DID UNSCREW THE TWEETER......... you know what I found in there ???
A TWEETER.
What was I supposed to do after that ?
Have a little NEG for the Children comment KLUDGE.
Wow.... so that's what it feels like.
It was a useful suggestion. Was that really necessary? The "children" comment was because a reasonable techical discussion was degenerating into a flamewar, for no good reason. And my response wasn't some indirect way of insulting you... it was a legitimate engineering approach. If someone had said the same thing to me in the same situation, I'd either just say "Yes, I already did that" (politely!), or I'd thank them and go do that.
Y'know, I'm new here. I'm trying to find a community of people to learn from, and it felt good to be able to contribute what I felt was a useful suggestion. And for that, I'm attacked and insulted?
I can't say I'm feeling real guilty about the "children" remark now.
There's still the input cables. At some point, the speakers are connected to the rest of the system, SOMEHOW. That's where the switch should be.
You certainly are a whiney one, aren't you?
Maybe- throw a meter on it to make sure the tweeter's actually blown? If the woofer is distorting, gently press on it to see if it's rubbing. I usually check that first, cause there's an active crossover and two amps in there too, lots of places for stuff to go wrong, might as well get the easy stuff out of the way first. Check for anything obvious visually disconnected or burnt. Throw a dummy load on the thing and check the output of the amps and crossover.
You know, stuff a tech does.
