If you enjoy learning how to record audio, then it really becomes a separae hobby than learning to play better, in my opinion.

I play guitar pretty well, not much of a songwriter as of yet, but even though I have very little to actually record, I feel I might at some point, and since I have a separate interest in audio production, I am learning the software and the hardware at the same time.

Seems perfectly reasonable that you would want to do the same - hone both skills so that when the time comes, you are good enough at both to put out a decent product.

something nice going on in 'Brick City Sirens'.....well done.:)
I'd like to hear that re-recorded one day....Superspit.

Thanks my friend, it is always good to hear stuff like that, and be sure that one day it will...

Ohh, new song. Sounds quite gd. Very short, n simple...

Yeah I've been bouncing around some stuff in my head that will hopefully hit the tape this weekend. Ill let you know what it's up.

Also, I will be recording my bands first EP sometime in the next month as well so i will send you all (pandamonk/cusebaseman) the link when that is complete.

Alright well the three song EP has been recorded!

They are posted up on my bands myspace page: myspace.com/gomordecairocks

I believe that they are a good progression from where i was comming from with regards to recording quality. Panda! Cuse! Everbody! Have a listen and let me know how I did...

FYI: The songs are actually a story so follow if you can I dont know if the guitarist posted the jist of it on the page or not but basicall it is about a boy whose father was a sailor and a priest. This being very bad luck for those out at see and his father eventually drowned. The boy has since grown us and has become a man of the sea aswell...now he dooms himself in following his fathers footsteps as a sailor aswell as leaving his heart at port when it should be with him at sea...that is all.

enjoi!

I think it sounds good. The drums sound quite muffled and distant though, and probably could be louder with more of a crack, imo. Bass guitar is also quite loud, and could be brought down. Drums are loud enough in requiem. Guitar and vocals sound very crisp, whereas drums and bass sound muffled/dull, so need a bit of work to mix well. Oh an accordion :D

hey,

its been a while, but school owns me...anyway i just finished another track that I did completely on my own, ya i know inbreeding all of the instruments limits the imagination but whatever....have a listen and please ignore the Neil Young cover i'm really not making fun of him.

Also, i didnt mute any of the tom's out of pure laziness so...yea have a listen and let me know!!

My opinion

Lepricoin,
I know you said you didn't want to record individual tracks but give it a shot. I am noob like you and I have tried live versus tracked. I get much better sound from the tracked. Plus it's easier to fix if one person screws up. I use Sonar 6 Producers Edition and a M-Audio Quattro. That qives me two stereo tracks or four half tracks,(mono). Give it a try and post a sample!
