Well I'm binning the schoeps right away now.
The odd thing is, if you've gone this far, why not just add a little memory stick recording device like the Zoom H2?
What about painting it red and calling it the swiss army mic?--I guess then you'd need a fold-out measurement mic.

hehe yea, that was my thought - I suppose an all-in-one devicde is cool, but it is 0 percent upgradeable... or conversely, you can only make a 100% equipment upgrade - sell this mic and buy a 'real' one.
Not to mention the fact that it has all these fun built-in options, and the entire thing is 130 bucks. I bet the preamp, converters and the capsule in that bad boy are top notch

I wonder about the handling noise, etc that might come about from such an arrangement.

hehe yea, its nice for travel I suppose, especially considering the price.
At the same time, I record to my powerBook anyway, so when I travel places and friends might want to do some small recording, I have a Presonus Firebox that fits in my laptop case. Toss a mic or two in the car with me, and I'm good to go, hehe.

If it sounds half as good as a 57 it's a great product. Seriously, if I were going out of town with my laptop and I wanted to have something to take song ideas down with this would rock. Actually, thinking about it I would still rather have the UX1 since it has amp models.
