You would have to let us know what radio shack mic. They probably sell hundreds of different mic's

What kind of computer mic do you have right now?

I've got a labtec am-242 that isn't too terrible. I mean, use a pop-filter, plug it in and you're good to go.

The problem with microphones is that generally they're paired with a preamps and they should be matched somewhat to make a decent sound.

You may be better off with your cheap computer mic than a decent mic that isn't used with the right equipment.

The offer from MSHilarious is probably your best bet for a quality mic that will work with just a computer sound card. Otherwise, it's a question of what you're plugging into that will also dictate how your mic is going to sound.

Speaking of radio shack mics. I've got a decent one I picked up years ago. The 33-3007, its basically a shure prologue 16 and it sounds okay. Plugged into my mackie 1202 it sounds good and I'll keep it.

Don't mean to threadjack but I'd like to have some more feedback on those two ebay stores if you have bought from them...

...there's a ton of feedback on this website for the ES58 and ES57 mics (use the search function):

...they are well known for their value and performance...at $29.99 they are amazing...the other mics are likely to come from the same manufacturer but GLS has been selling theirs for years and their volume of sales allows them to sell the mics for less...and their mic cables are excellent as well...I use both in the studio and for live gigs...can't beat the value of these mics...;)

I was always wondering about these "clones"

how close are they? I would like to buy a few more sm57's (you can never have too many) would it be worth it to look into a clone?

I'm not much from buying shit just because it's "name brand" but when it comes to mics i'm a little in the dark so i don't know who to trust except the "name brand" stuff

...you can buy one for $29.99 and try it...my guess is you won't be able to tell the difference...or suck it up and buy the 3 pack and consider yourself smart for saving the difference...guys on this site have been using these GLS 57 copies for years as their drum mics and they love 'em!...there's not much guesswork going on here...use that search link I posted above for more positive reinforcement...;)
