Help! Buzzin noise in recordings!

What's up folk!
I hear buzzin noises in my recordings(I use cool edit pro 2.0). I hear it on the studio monitors and also in the headphones, and also when I play back the recording wit the beat, and acapella! Could someone help me out with what may be the problem here? Thanks alot, appreciate it! Be Blessed!

well I got erthang set up in one spot...the studio monitors near the cpu screen(sittin on each side of the screen actually), the mixer wit a bunch of cables every where near the cpu itself(all the cords are jumbled up on each other kinda tangled). I handnt used my equipment in a while, so I just started bck using it today, all before I never heard any buzzin sound until today! Could you help?

Sort out all the wires, and try and get the monitors away from the screen a bit. See if that sorts it...

I've also had buzz problems from having stuff too close to the computer screen. Especially on electric guitar but I don't imagine you're doing too much of that.

Same here. I finally got an LCD monitor and the buzz went away.

An easy way to check whether the buzz is comming from the monitor is to setup everything like you normally use it, listen for the buzz, then turn off the computer monitor and see if the buzz stops.

Speaking about erthang, what about earthing? i.e. grounding issues?

I have an HP laptop that gives terrible ground hum when its plugged into ac.

The dangerous solution is to lift the ground with a cheater plug--but that means you lose the safety afforded by proper grounding.

Just a thought...
