It is currently a small 10x10 room that is dead as a door nail. All the walls are treated. The speaker cab was in a corner.

I use cheap outdoor rugs and a two broadban traps I made with OC 703. A room that small I found virually impossible to sound good, so to me complete deadness is the best I can do for now. Any ambiants I need have to come from software.

When my wife and I build our house I will have 19 x 19 room for recording. We taking a house plan with a garage but were going to build the garage like it was another room in the house. It will be a one room studio. I will then make some gobos.

Id try using a bit less distortion and a tad more lows or mids to make it a bit meatier.

I have the JCM2000 DLS50 so yeah its a new one. These are meant to be a tad harsh compared to the 800s. I am getting a set of broken in Vintage 30s and a full retube also.

I don't have a 2000 but I have an JCM800 (2203) and I dont think that the 2000 would be harsher than an 800 as they are very harsh amps to use and found that you really have to adjust your playing style to use them. Maybe there's something wrong with your amp? I also think that amps tend to sound completely different live as opposed to recorded. So it may be worth playing around with that may sound shit live but may sound bitchin' recorded. My protocol for testing is find a sweet spot with the mic and leve it there, then play a riff your about to record, stop playing change the setting record again ect. untill you find the best when coming from you monitors, of course live its what you like.

I'd stay away from adding lows to this. If you started really chugging, there would be plenty of low end. You can kind of hear it when you palm mute the one chord. This particular passage doesn't need it. And besides, it would leave room for the bass and kick. Highs are a bit grainy.
