Hi everybody,

I recently bought a yamaha MG 12/4 mixer and a M-Audio delta 1010 soundcard.
So I was wondering how can I connect everything from the mixer to the soundcard. cause I want to use the mixer headphone jack to hear the
music while recording. I had a m-audio audiophile and I couldnt use
the headphone jack on my other mixer, cause the music was coming in thru
the mixer and record itself on the track I was recording in.

So now that I've got myself a Delta 1010, I want to be able to do
almost everything from my mixer. If anyone knows how to connect
this and would like to help me out I will appreciate any help.

Thanks for taking your time to read my post...
Take care

use the mg's channel inserts to send signals to the 1010's inputs. use a pair of the 1010's outputs to feed a stereo channel of the mg.

important to note that with the mg 12 you only have 4 inserts.. so if you want to use all 8 analogue channels you'll need more pre amps.

also you said you want to do almost everything from your mixer? if this includes mixing then use all your outs on the 1010 to go into the ins of the mg. i believe you only have 6 channels of mono inputs on that mixer so when you get there keep in mind that the channels are now split into left and right signals (so are the outs on the 1010) so make sure you plug a left output into a left input.

if you're mixing analogue you use the main outs to back into the 1010's line inputs (again left and right) but make sure to turn the monitoring off in the delta control panel... (caused me some headaches because i'm an idiot and forgot about this hehe see post below)

4 inserts, yes, but doesn't it have 2 aux sends also? Just send the other two channels via these. To return, like said, return on stereo channel.

I need someone to guide me

I just got a M audio delta 10/10 sound card to my pc and i intend to utilise 8 audio & 1 midi input on the card. Which type of analogue mixer do i need to buy and of how many channels. Please dont forget that i cant afford the expensive mixers.
Thank you

You don't *need* an analog mixer to feed the 1010. An MAudio Octane would be a good fit- thats an 8 channel rack mount preamp. Presonus has the D8 which is similar. If you really want a mixer, the Soundcraft M8 has very nice preamps with a direct out on each channel (a very useful feature that most small format mixers lack). I use the Soundcraft in my home studio - 8 mic channels feed my 1010lt and a stereo pair from the 1010lt back to a stereo channel on the M8 works well. That mixer also doubles as the front end of my PA. Really, most budget small format mixers are not setup for recording.
