I need to connect wordclock via BNC, non terminated (10 kOhm) terminal on my RME FF800 to my ART DPSII
the RME manual leaves a bit to be desired when it comes to details... I recall "terminators" on older gear that used BNC cables... do I need one of these to connect the 2 units together? (I'm...
anybody using this set-up? I've spent most of the day and I cannot get the FF800 to show up... Hardware profile sees 'something' connected to the port (I had to use a Fw 400x800 cable as the MacPro only has FW800 ports, and although the FF800 has 2 FW800 ports, they're apparently for hooking...
I'll jump on the "energy and feel" belief being overblown- yes there's chemistry hat's gained from making eye contact and seeing body "english". but in a small room, besides the bleed, trying to get a good headphone mix (I'm assuming you're not planning on setting up a PA in here too?) with...
I've been a long time ProTools user (10 years)-
I have Reaper and I like it, but it has some limitations (hardware support) and yes i know there are work-arounds and I have nothing but praise for the folks who move this platform along, but as I do once in a while get paid to record folks I need...
while I think there may be a few folks with gifted ears who can mix and master in the same room, I think most it is a best less than possible end result.
I know after mixing a tune (or a CD's worth of tunes) I've lost my objectivity and am soooo familiar with the material that I start to hear...
The Karma K-58 is a nice mic for the price (I changed to stock Chinese tube for a NOS JAN which I think helped immensely, the stock tune seemed a bit grainy)
I think they're still under $300
though I should mention I'm running it through a Prism MMA-4XR pre...
I tend to like the more sparse/simple/airy (you choose the adjective) over heavily layered (often to the point of cluttered) mixes. I have played in large bands (10 piece) down to me and my guitar, and I admire those folks who can pull off solo performances that don't leave you thinking (that...
Anybody using this? I was going to get a Motu 828mk3... but they're now back-ordered to early February.... the RME is a bit more than i planned on spending, but I'm moving away from ProTools to DP and need a new interface, even though a few have told the 002R would work, I've had it since 2005...
why people build studios... actually it just sorta happened-
I'd been out of any serious 'band' effort for a few years and started up with a new band in the late 90's... and like most bands, rehearsing in the living room became a hassle always moving furniture out of the way, so out to the...
my variation on the Heimholtz resonator- I experimented with a few different spacings between the slats which are random widths, though mainly 1x3, 1x4 and 1x6- the xozis 4" thick behind with 4" of RFG covered with a piece of fabric (as I don't find "raw" RFG panels to be all that attractive)...
I waited till I'd spend a few thousand dollars buying gear and plug-ins I thought for sure would solve my mixes which translated as pure mud outside of my 'space'
not as much fun as gear because the acoustic treatment doesn't have knobs, lights, controls or cords, but I refused to accept that...
thanks for the offer, but this years tax return is already "spent" on a new Mac 8 core (I'm still on a PPC), a Motu 828mk3 and Digital performer...
I'm bailing out of ProTools after 10 years, 9.0 isn't making me want to buy it... i can still run 8.0 on the PPC till the 002R or the PPC breaks...
59 Hammond M3 (w/single rotor Leslie M-18), Rhodes 88 Stage (not the suitcase), Yamaha S08, Korg X3, I keep thinking an analog style synth would be cool again (maybe the PAIA kit modules...) butthen i think... maybe some better mics or rack gear...
or maybe i should just shut up and play for...
here's some pics of mine- this has been a 7 year project (to date) and there's still things I'd like to change/upgrade.... Income tax return is eagerly anticipated
The musical instruments are an accumulation over ... well a long long time, some things I wish I hadn't sold or traded... but it...
Certainteed and Knauff (sp?) also make comparable products- the trick is finding a wholesale source for the products- I've used both as well as the Corning 703 and 705, looks, weighs and itches about the same :D
I'm among the crowd planning on leaving My Digi hardware behind (002R), but not because of 9.0... I'm not impressed with it for the cost and the apparent number of problems folks are having-
I'm looking at the Motu 828mk3 and moving to DP- only 2 internal pres, while still having 8 analog ins...
my experience (though not vast) is that the tubes in the low/mid priced gear are production tubes, and who knows where they fall in the specs, and if you'll immediately plan on replacing the stock tube with NOS that were designed to be non-microphonic and very low noise you'll be pleasantly...
at this point I've moved away fro logic and Digital producer is where I'll likely be moving. The competitve upgrade is ~ $150 less than buying 9.0 with the Toolkit
DP has been long integrated with Macs, and is fully integrated with my Euphonix. I've chatted back and forth with a guy on another...
