    Recording acoustic guitar

Recording acoutic guitar, and getting a great sound is a real chore to say the least. After years of trying many different mics, DI stuff, and processors, I found something that helps alot - medium gage strings !!! Dosn't sound like great wisdom, but try it and you will see much harshness fly...

    Allen & Heath / Mackie / Spirit M

Allen & Heath Mix wizard I have a Allen & Heath 16 mix wizzard unit in my studio. It has a clean warm sound, two sweepable mids, 5 aux sends, and onboard effects. I like it, but would go another way if I had the choice to make over again. First of all It wasn't built for recording. Why? It...

    BBE Virsonix Sonic Maximizer

I wouldn't leave home without it I consider my BBE one of my favorite peices of gear. It is the last peice in my signal chain, before burning to CD. I keep the knobs at 12:00 all the time. I have been told that the unit is like a little mind that corrects any phasing and fighting within the...

A good mastering job with little results Hi atomictoyz, I recorded my first project at a commercial studio using 3 ADATS through a Mackie board. I decided at that time I would never record to digital again since it was so difficult to warm the guitars. Since that time I have been doing my...

    CD Replication

"I apologize for that". Hey Cominginsecond, I respect your ability to humble yourself when you may offend someone. I must say that is character that is rarely seen, but most appreciated. Even though I have been a bit Oasis / Discmakers headstrong, I have been listening to every word...

    CD Replication

Hey Eurythmic, My thoughts exactly. I also got a package from Oasis that was packed FULL of great examples and a personal attention from a rep. They do cost more, but they try to earn it. Now, some in this thread don't agree with the Oasis approach because of cost and claim to perks for the...

    CD Replication

"you can get someone to do just as good a job for half as much. TRUST ME" Hi CominginSecond, Thanks for encouraging me to try another duplicator. It does help to see that you have experienced quality many times over from them. Chuck:)

    CD Replication

Good information Thank you for all the information. However, trusting my long hours of writing, recording, and mixing to a lessor known duplicator feels like a risk to me. Thanks anyway..... :)

    CD Replication

Hi bdemenil, Thanks for your reply above. I used Dismakers on my first project, and was very pleased with much of what they did for me. I would not have known about Amazon, unless they told me. They don't directly sell CDs for us, no, they provide marketing avenues for us to pursue. The...
