the mix coming from my daw will sound great on my monitors....even sound great when dubbed on to cassete and played through various stereo's but when i mixdown to wav and burn to cd the cd sounds like crap

im using a gadgetlabs 424 card,and up untill now
iv gotten great recording(btw im recording strictly soundmodules and vocals)but now when i go to record,the hihats come out inconsistant,and the overall quality sounds like its been recorded on a tape deck....i didnt do anything to the sampling...
for one i cant get my wave 424 to work with real audio,playback or realproducer.
and is there a way to configure programs such as fruityloops,and the cdrom and windows media player to play back stereo,or should i say to 2 channels,do i make sense?
i ordered the gadgetlabs 424 and it took me about 10 days of headaches to get it installed to my wretched compaq k62 but i finally get it installed

i cant figure out why it does this.i hooked my yamaha djx keyboard up to my computer through the built in soundcard,and when i hit a key on the keyboard theres a delay between when the computers synth plays the note.
why is this happening?
