theres about a 1 second delay in sound when hooking my midi keyboard up to cakewalk 9

i cant figure out why it does this.i hooked my yamaha djx keyboard up to my computer through the built in soundcard,and when i hit a key on the keyboard theres a delay between when the computers synth plays the note.

why is this happening?

its very annoying when trying to record notes.
 
Try installing Direct Sound driver. THat should improve latency. I think you can find the driver at microsoft site.. Good luck.
 
I had the same problem till I got a Midiman midi interface. That fixed it, plus I don't have to daisy chain anymore!!
