Are there any VST plugins that have similar characteristics or modeled after the 1176? I know about all the UAD plugins but I can't get them because I'm recording onto a laptop so I have no PCI ports!
Right now I'm using instrument cables to connect my monitors to my system, do I need to use a certain type of cable or are instrument cables fine? Will they do any damage to my monitors? Thanks.

This month there is a sale at sam ash and I'm able to get the firewire 410 for $220. Should I buy this and then buy an external pre-amp at a later time and have 4 imputs or should I wait and save up for the firepod. The only issue I have is I have heard great things about the firepod so I'm...

I'm looking to upgrade my bass drum mic and I want to spend around $100. It seems to me like I'll have to spend $200 to get a decent bass drum mic but I don't need the best and I can't afford it at the time either. Any suggestions or do I have to take a dive and spend $200? Thanks!
