Is this true? And would you recommend recording at that level.

So iv'e had my USB audio technica AT2020 for a while now i got a tascam DR-60D which uses XLR + phantom power and than pretty much has a better low noise level with the 3.5mm jack and XLR inputs than anything i own.

So my usb Audio Technica AT2020 has a constant hiss sound. Ether it be on 3db or even 20db. It makes it so i can't do anything to the sound without the hiss becoming really apparent.

So i put the levels at about 50db/the dial on the recorder to the middle for all these tests.
Test 1.
I put the video mic pro on a "+20db" gain and left the Tascam at "low" gain
