Band demo -- "Don't stop believin' (Bad Bones cover version)

Would very much value feedback from this knowledgeable (and honest) forum on this new demo for one of my two bands. First attempt in many moons... Thanks. Mike

Once more with feeling, Poco fans.

Christ, I'd be dangerous if I ever uploaded a file correctly the first time. OK, hopefully this clicks. Poco's only legit top 40 hit. From the album (???) of the same name. Critiques welcomed but not expected, since I'm such a sporadic visitor to this site and too inexperienced to offer any...

    Any Poco fans?

Their only legit top 40 hit. A little tribute to the band that many say gave rise to the Eagles. Enjoy or critique as you see fit.

Female cover -- Coldplay "Fix You"

Recorded this local female acoustic guitarist/singer a few months ago and recently played around with new arrangement for this touching Coldplay tune. Comments/critiques appreciated.

Steely Dan cover -- Reelin' in the years

Hope I attached this correctly. Been awhile since I've had a chance to post anything. My sense is the guitar needs to be brightened up and may be a little too gain-heavy. Recorded with a Marshall DSL40, Lead channel, gain at about 7. Tone controls at high noon. Playing a '75 Firebird with...

Can I send an outboard mixer signal to a Tascam 2488neo?

I'm thinking of buying a small outboard mixer -- something like the Mackie ProFX 12 -- to "pre-mix" live drums and send the signal to a single channel strip on my 2488neo. Possible?

Why record with a computer when there are all-in-one portastudios?

As a total newbie to home recording (been at it about three years) I gotta admit I'm baffled at how many more people do this with computers than with standalone portastudios like the 2488neo that I'm learning on. It can't be a money thing. A Mac alone costs two or three times what my neo cost...

    BEATLES cover -- Papberback Writer

Two big challenges to this one. 1. Capturing the gritty country twang of Harrison's guitar on the big intro. 2. Mixing the massive number of vocal tracks (18, if I counted correctly ... I confess I lost touch, after multiple bounces). Folks, as a very sporadic commenter on this forum, I...

Beatles Cover -- I Feel Fine (umm, this time with the file attached)

Beatles Cover -- I Feel Fine Deceptively tough song to play and mix, as I soon discovered. Perfect example of George Martin's genius with early Beatles songs: big, fat sound with just a few instruments and voices -- and spartan equipment. (For the record, I acknowledge that this "Clinic"...

Eagles Cover -- New Kid in Town

For me, there's no better way to learn the recording/mixing/mastering process than to pick a challenging hit song and try to duplicate it -- performance, mix, overall vibe. Here's one I've been chasing for the better part of a month. Decided to upload while waiting for the kids and grandkids...

2488neo FX key won't assign properly

The "Single Effect" key on my Neo won't let me assign it to any inputs or tracks. The key itself isn't stuck -- it opens the pop-up menu when I press it. But when I press and hold it along with a channel "Select" key, nothing happens. Anyone encounter this?

    Any Poco fans?

Always loved this band and this song. Percussion a little heavy in last verse, and I had to cut the end quickly because ... well, I lost count of the "Good Feelins" and didn't have time to punch and/or re-cut all the trax needed to fix it. Other critiques appreciated on this labor of love...

Have I learned anything at allfrom you guys?

Originally posted this on the wrong forum, I think. This looks like the right place for it. Newbie here. I very much value and respect the opinions of everyone on this forum. I'd say, "I've learned a lot from all of you." But that'd be presumptuous. More accurately, I've paid attention to...

Newbie here. I very much value and respect the opinions of everyone on this forum. I'd say, "I've learned a lot from all of you." But that'd be presumptuous. More accurately, I've paid attention to everything I've read here and on many other home recording forums (fori?). Posting two mp3s...
