I'm just curious if there is a specific number that can be attributed to this. I know that FW400 is 400mbps and FW800 is 800mbsp, but what does that translate into regarding how many tracks can be streamed back and forth at one time?
I guess the question breaks down to: How much of an...
I'm looking at getting either a Breedlove OMR Deluxe or the equivalent Martin is styled after. Just looking for if anyone has tried both and what you thought?
I'm considering between the new BM6a MKII and BM12a's for a purchase within the next month. Since I know these haven't gotten out much I think my question is more(in a general way- i know it depends on the material and the engineer), what advantages do you find between mixing on 6" monitors and...
I just got a Tascam 38 that I was told was basically used once, then wrapped in plastic and sat in storage for many years. It looks cosmetically brand new. My only problem so far, is that I can't seem to record anything. I'm really hoping this is my fault somehow - although the operation of the...
I'll be recording a piano recital on Wednesday, and thought I would put this up for if anyone had anything they thought I absolutely NEEDED to get this done and sounding good. If it was, it would have to be something I could get at Guitar Center, since I would have to stop by to pick it up...
I checked out the information for spotting the conterfeit Oktava's here: http://www.oktavausa.com/HHT-MK012.htm
And my mic's seem to pass except for a couple of inconsistencies.
#1 - No serial number?
#2 - I did get them as a 99 dollar deal from Guitar Center, and they have the "A.S.M" brand...
Hi. I was just curious about what benefits I might reap from adding a big knob or central station to my rack and using that for monitoring instead of my 1604VLZ Pro which I use only for monitoring. How much is this really coloring my sound?
I'm thinking of a few different options here:
Audix D6: Audix seems to make good stuff, and what I've heard with it seems to have a sort of "finished" sound. I've also heard it's less senstitive to placement and I dont really want to be stuck with one sound nessecarilly.
Beta 52: I've heard it...
So I guess I'm just about ready to put down cash on a pre. I think I've decided, it's looking like a lunchbox with either an API 512c or a BAE 312a. Kind of scary though eh? I record a lot of acoustic music, but some rock as well and both of these seem to be able to achieve those goals...
Hi. I have a keyboard hooked up to the Midi input of my Delta 1010 using N-Track Studio 4. I'm able to record MIDI into N-Track but am curious how I might be able to monitor midi on my computer? I imagine this may have to do with the elusive "output" jack on the Delta.
There's a lot of options out there... This will mainly be used for acoustic guitar and vocals. I want something open but not too transparent... Some flavor of API500 would seem to be the best value for getting into pro-level pre's. So what would you suggest?
I was considering an OSA rack and...
So far so good. Will need more testing for sure. I don't have the room set up at all right now and the only preamp I have to test through is an audio buddy right now. I'll definately be interested to hear it through better pre's and with some 703 up. Definately sounds a lot more "bigger than...
I'm not in a situation just yet where I can put any rigid fiberglass into a permanent place... but I was wondering if it would help my recordings if when I was say recording acoustic guitar or vocals had it arranged maybe on mic stands around me? Covered in fabric of course.
I know this has been posted before... but it's a big investment for me... and since I can't actually try some of these I have to make my choice based on others opions. My price range basically goes up to $1500 for a workhorse LDC. I want it to sound great on vocals, and acoustic guitars, and...
I want to start soldering my own cables... but I don't know where to get them or which flavor I need. www.mogamicable.com has a lot of different types. I want to make some balanced patch cables and some microphone cables.
I've started to realize why Patchbays are important... and why I'm going to very soon going to need more than one. I just wanted to ask here so someone could clarify and let me know if my use is correct.
The main point of using the patchbay from what I can tell is... Let's say I have 8 input...
I've been thinking of getting a Tampa, since I've read some pretty positive reviews of it here... but my question is... is it worth it? I really want to get into BAE/OSA type stuff and if I do that am I going to find the Tampa to not be very usable? What I did like about it is the SPDIF...
