Ok I've seen a zoom mrs 1044 on ebay and I'm very interested.
The problem is that it only records two tracks at a time. Now I play with a drummer and he needs 4 mics, so is their a way that I can add a mixer to the mrs so that I can have more xlr inputs.

So it would be me on the 1st track

And him with the mixer on the 2nd track

Sorry if this sounds stupid.

Thanks.

Just run your drum mics into the mixer and plug the OUT on the mixer to one of the INPUT channels of the recorder. Experiment with the faders(or knobs) on the mixer until you get a decent mix.

hey dude, i just got a mrs - 1044 on ebay.

when i did music tech at school, we used like a splitter box, with a number of jack inputs one side going into one.

sorry i dont know the correct name, but they do exist :)

Good thing you went to school for that!

............... ;)

The idea that the drummer needs 4 mics is a fallacy.

A good drum recording could be made with 1 mic, using a little technique and discipline. So, 2-inputs/2-instruments/2-simul recording means use one for guitar and one for drums. Simple as that.

Otherwise, get a mixer and use your first idea. You're gonna do it anyway. ;)
