I use z custom crashes and I think theyre alright. I think the As has a better tone/sound but Im a hard hitter and cymbals are expensive, so its kind of a compromise. I have done some recording with the z custom crashes and they sounded pretty good. One thing that can be a bitch sometimes is at practice when the other guys have to turn their amps up really loud because the cymbals are so loud especially when I use the 20" crash as a ride.. I have started to play in a reggae band now and I guess I will be using my z custom crashes there too. I will work with what I got. And I really like the Zs cause theyre so solid. I have broken a lot of cymbals over the years but I cant imagine i will be breaking any of the Zs any time soon. I am thinking about getting a 12" splash and I think Ill go with z custom there as well.
