dang.. that's all through a POD? *sheesh* Nice sound.

I agree there were level issues... vocals (and certain git parts) would jump from noticeably low to noticeably loud.

Liked the bass doublets the drummer was doin' at the end... (was that an attempted doublet at 3:55 or did he flub? :o )

Long outro.. a little drug out.. but not too bad... it kinda lost some "momentum" when he went to the ride.. it got real "empty" there.. maybe throw in some percs to compensate.

Nice recording overall though... and dang those gits sounded nice... especially the "solo" gits at 3:45...

WATYF

P.S. I listened to some of your other stuff, and you smoke on guitar dude... :p cool stuff.

Emeric,

I remain in awe of how good everything is in your work -- the playing and singing, the writing, the recording, the mixing... (though I did once point out that my opinion that your voice was the weakest link... but I'm not at all sure about that... anyway, weakest by comparison, and far less weak than most people I hear...)

I was waiting for something to happen the whole last minute and twenty-odd seconds, though... though by the time it ended it sounded to me like you were simply not done with this piece yet.

cut.... print it... that's a wrap. excellent. has anybody ever said that the vocals sound like Paul Mcartney? No? Well, they do, a little... ;)

I dig it.

Nuff said. You squeeze some major clarity and focus into these tunes.

Real nice!!

Sounds like new found confidence in your vocals, I likey.

Vocals sound like they're at a good level.

Everything else sounds solid and pleasing, I also like the Pod, I don't care what they say.

I've allways thought you had some of the best sounding recorded drums, still do!!

Great work,

GT

Man, great guitar sounds... very cool melody being carried by the vocal, it's being sung with confidence... could use a touch more presence/volume on vox. Guitars/drums/bass sound very well balanced and placed. Sounds like you're planning a lead for the fadeout portion, right?

emeric - your's may have been the very first stuff I listened to in the clinic a couple of years ago. It was good stuff then, and still is.

Nice song. I like the mix a lot.

I'm wondering about the very first chord that starts the song. Why not just start with the fade-in?

Regardless, good work.

Very good! Excellent vocals and I love the back-up vocals as well. The bass line kicks some serious ass -- I love melodic bass lines.

Has a cool Beatles quality to it (a la White Album) ...

Mix wise, the drums sound like they could use a little bit of a boost in the mix, but it is probably just on my machine... I really like how you have the vocals sitting, and the solo in the middle sounds great!

Very cool! Keep it up, man! :)

mixmkr: For sure, the POD is a great tool. I've got many sounds out of it that I've liked. It does have it's short comings though, I find it has an inherent 'high frequency, grainy' sound to all the patches. But, in the context of a mix it is certainly workable.

Thanks WATYF. It does drag out for sure. I don't hear the triplet flub you mention. Thanks for checking out some other tunes.

AlChuck: Your right, it isn't done. The end part won't be like that, probably a continuation of the leads and a fade. After listening to it a week later, I find the mix a bit blurry sounding. I prefer to post things when they are not quite done, then I can use all the great feedback offered here. Thanks for the listen.

JR#97: Thanks JR, no, no one mentioned Paul, usually Neil Young, John Lennon or Julian Lennon. I don't think I sound like any of them (tonaly, melodicaly there is the odd bit), but I'm not objective.

jet-rocker: Appreciate it!

GT: Never listen to what they say! :)

mkg: Yep, lead it will be.

dachay2tnr: I didn't bother to edit it any of the tracks yet, all the noises will be removed, and start with the reverse thing. Thanks for checking it out.

boydrj: Thanks!

dtb: Glad you like it!

Oh, hey, suhweeet songcrafting, dude! I hear the 70s influences in there too, I agree about Supertramp, and I hear some CS&N too.

You have a terrific voice, and a nifty sense of vocal arrangement!

The drums recorded really well too, and everything is reasonably well balanced. Nice use of soundfield!

My only complain, and it's relatively minor, is that the whole mix is bottom heavy. Only at the lowest levels does it sound balanced in my studio monitors. Edge off from 62Hz to about 250Hz, in a slope from 4db off at 64Hz to about 1.5dB off at 250. That sounded good on my system...

Really catchy, memorable piece!

The vocals sound very beatlesy. It's not the first time here. I'm not sure if it was you the last time too. The song is good. The mix is good. No complains. No complains about the drums either (what? really? yeah, that's true, you won a special prize! :D )

The bass seemed to distort on the left, but it's probably my headphones. My expensive headphones that I bought about a month ago. I'm pretty pissed off at that fact that the left side distorts very easily with loud bass parts, but not the right. Of course, it may be something else, but I doubt it... what am I talking now, you ask. I dunno :D Good song and a groove. It has Beatles written all over it though.

very clean sounding recording.. I like some of the vocals and the sounds are all there.. Very nice tune.. The mix is good except for the occasional low vocal, but that might have been intentional..

I thought you could have ended the song @ the 4 minute mark because that 'punk style riff' goes on too long, and is used too often by too many.. You could have added something to make it not sound so basic.. It's the type of riff you hear people play when they first learn how to play, but it always works good in punk songs etc, but here it sounds boring..

Other than that, very nice sounding tune..

Great song--Sounds like the vocals could come up in a few spots eg~3:00 and once earlier. I like the guitar sounds and the parts themselves are very tasty. A slight drum mishap towards the end-how about a solo on that outtro?Or a vocal round? I thought you had a better drum sound last song I listened too, I detected a bit of that swishy cymbal sound (which is 10X worse on my drum recordings :( ). The overall atmosphere of this is real good. Very good job as usual-I listened 3 times already and the song goes quick considering it's length. Only thing thats missing is the bottlecap.

Edit--The "3d wide balance" was on and turned up on the work comp I listened with-so disregard everything I said--drums sound better-if anything I notice a little too much rythm guitar and bass-or should I say the combo of them in the verse was a little bottom heavy. Really like the guitar fade in excellent! Vox sound better now in the parts I mentioned-

ahh nice

I downloaded this last week. Awsome stuff. Your vocals are really unique and those drums are always the best. I really liked the tune and it heald me to the end (always long tunes dude). I though that perhaps the guitars could have been a bit thicker at the start, only my opinion and doesn`t really make sense, perhaps just a few more layers. Your accoustic sound on the first tune I listened to of yours blew me away. Thanks man for another cracker!

Not yet...

I have nothing to offer other than praise...

... and a bump. This can't leave yet.

:D

Llarion: Hey thanks. Yeah it is a bit bottom heavy for sure.

MelonHead: I like The Beatles, although I don't listen to them much anymore, overdosed on them I guess.

CrankyOne: Another Beatles comment. Damnit, I'll have to start writing something else. Thanks for listening!

Stratomaster: Thanks for the comments. Bass Heavy, agreed. A guitar solo will happen over a fadeout.

Erland: I had a difficult time getting the electrics to sound the way I wanted - they still don't sound the way I want them to. Those are the scratch tracks and are very buzz/hiss - ridden. I hear what you're saying about thickening them. Thanks for listening!

chrisharris: Thanks Chris. I wasn't going to reply on this one again, but you had to go bump it back up. Damn you. :D

Shit. hehhe. Don't know how I missed your post in there, just scrolled right by it! Sorry! I'll take you off the block list so I can read your comments... j/k.

B.SABBATH: Thanks for the comments. I see what your saying about the ending chords. I thought they were neat at the time because the song chorus is B A C#min, and then at the end it's A G, Bmin. But, with a lead guitar and fading out maybe it won't be as boring, it is a tad long for sure. I've only been playing guitar for 6 months so that may be why it sounds like that :)

No, seriously I appreciate the feedback and is mentally noted whenever I get around to finishing it.
