I thought I'd step out of my Pop element for a moment & record something that has been in my head for the last year.
It's my version of "Dyer Maker" by Led Zepplin, a band I have always hated but wanted to like...

Any opinions are just dandy, seeing as this is a real departure from the Zep version. And as usual, I am playing all the instruments & vocals by myself, so you can rip all the musicans, too! :D
Enjoy! (I hope.)

HMMM...

Not Sure Why...
I had no problem just now trying it.

Maybe because it says you have to have cookies enabled?

Help, anyone?:D

Works for me no prob DJ. I'm downloading it now.

I'll post back after I listen.

I'm a big zep fan, so expect some very heavy criticism :) Unless it's great.

If it's a parody... I won't be back at all.

Actually this file is not too big 44% and counting.

OK - works with Netscape but not IE. It's on its way down the pipe.

I'm also a huge huge major Zep fan...this is going to be interesting!

Here goes........ouch ouch ouch ouch!!!!

Dougie, sounds like a great production - great mix IMO. Good clarity and punch.

BUT THIS IS BLASPHEMY!!!!

I'm going to take it as an exercise in humor/parody. Wasn't that your intent?

Can't say it isn't original! Can't say you don't have balls for doing it! What's next? Disco Muddy Waters? :D

All in good fun. You should do a heavy version of some lame boy group tune - that could be a gas.

Good kharma to ya Dougie. :)

Hey DJ, oh no... it is a parody. :)

The drums are a little thin sounding, almost like a drum machine. Some more panning on the instruments would be cool. Interesting guitar solo at the end! Lay off the speed!

Nothing more to say! I won't say I hated it, it has it's merits! I prefer 'Love Assassin' That I get stuck in my head from time to time.

Hit Me!!

Hey Emeric and PSSmith66:

Thanks alot for giving it a listen!

I guess it was a parody, because of the fact I can't sing..
I was trying to do a "Robin Zander meets Rob Zombie" kind of thing...

Emeric...You were half right about the drums. That is me playing the drums, but it is on my Yamaha Digital Drum Set. Next time I'll record on an acoustic kit. And my fingers did get shredded a bit on the guitar solo, which I intended to be ridiculous.

PSSmith: Thanks for the disturbingly kind words...
You have inspired me to try a Death Metal vesion of "Mandy".
Hi up there in Newfieland SLOAN ROCKS!!!

well...glad you guys got got a kick out of it, anyway..That's all it's about!

DJ:D

The guy who runs our local jam night does a beautiful heavy metal version of "Brown Eyed Girl"

Absolutely PRICELESS... he's a career musician, so he gets that song requested every damn night practically (sometimes more then once) so when he thinks he can get away with it (ie, when the audience would get a kick out of it, not when they wouldn't) he sometimes plays the metal version.

Funniest goddamned thing....

Downloading the mp3 now - didn't work for me in ie, either... netscape only. Definitely check out nowhereradio, man

Well the download eventually creaked to a halt and died... and I'm on the either end of a 10mb link to the internet. yuck.

Anyways, check out nowhereradio.com :)

Ok...OK...OK!!!

I put the song on www.nowhereradio.com

It's under the group name "The Combovers"

Thanks for the link to that site, Old Grover!

Now let 'er rip!!:D

DJ

Damn..get the LEAD out will ya!:D hehe! I'm rollin here man, like emeric said easy on the speed cat! It was riot Dougie. Had no problem D/L from www.filegenie.com. Good stuff hehehe!

That's great. Is that S8-N on bu vox?

IIRC this was Zep's deliberately "pop" song.

filegenie dissed me and IE
nowhere wouldn't let me d/l, could only stream

Dougie, you have to set the file permission to 'allow all download' so these guys can download from NoWhere.

Go to your interface under 'upload/edit mp3' and click on the 'quil' to the right of the song. Make sure the 'allow all download' box is checked and everything should be dandy.

Hey David: Thanks for the listen! I had a riot recording it..
It's more fun screwing around when it is someone else's tune, you are definitely not as particular!:D
I had a bit too much coffee before laying down the Lead trax...

Waldo: Thanks for the info. I am going over to Nowhereradio.com
now to fix the problem..

Queue: You're right. I think that was Zep's attempt at a pop "hit".
Does Misterque know you??

Hey Dougie...

Checked-out this song... Sounds like you had fun doin' it! Sounded good too; though it was just on these $10 blown speakers at work. Definitely a nice big and wide effect on the vox... What was it from?

An, I gots ta get me one a dem electro drums! Too damn much for my first set though... They gotta make some REALLY cheap ones to suck me in first; then I can justify spending just as much or more as my acoustic set. Next thing you know, I'll be Mr. Drums for a rap group...
