I just wanna get a feel for everybody's taste. What are your top 3 favorite programed beatz.

Mine

1. One in a million - Aaliyah
2. Come Clean - Jeru
3. Jump around (Pete Rock rmx) - House of Pain

i guess im retarded. but what do you mean by programed beats?

one's that don't involve a band, or all live instruments

this is IMPOSSIBLE but I'll try...

I may have to edit this later...but these are the hottest 3 I can think of right now.

1. Bone - Notorious Thugs
2. The Firm - Affirmative Action
3. Black Rob - Whoa

In no specific order

1. Styles P - I Get High

2. Bow Down - Westside Connection (simplistic ass beat but easy to work with and make hot)

3. Busta Rhymes - tie between Break Ya Neck and Make It Hurt (both still still rank among most favorite non orchestrated beats...ever)

Dead Prez - "Hip-Hop"
Pharoah Monch - "Simon says"
the intro on BlackStars album. it has some dope turntable work and a vicious snare.

fuck, i could go on for a long time.

Volume 10- Pistol Grip Pump
Total- Cant You See (yea I Said It So What)
Epmd- You Gots To Chill

Well, the production I like usually is consistent through the albums so here are my picks:

Conscious rap: Mos Def and Talib Kweli Are Black Star by Black Star (the intro in particular) & Train of Thought by Reflection Eternal (Down For The Count in particular)- pretty much every Black Star affiliated album; Common's Be (especially Chi-City and Be), while not my favorite Common album, I loved Kanye's jazzy production.

East coast rap: Illmatic by Nas (especially N.Y. State of Mind)

West coast: all eyez on me by 2Pac (Can't C Me); The Documentary by The Game (Higher and Church For Thugs).

General: my group United Slaves' mixtape (the album is on hold right now but coming); peep Hell on Earth and you'll know what we can do.

I just came across that Get High original sample the other day. It was this Frida Pain record.

When I first heard "You Gotz to Chill" that joint hit me like a ton of bricks. I guess it hit a lot of West Coast artist like that too.

I peeped that Hell on Earth joint. That joint was tight. Nice and polished, and saying something meaningful. I like your vocalist too, reminicent of Anthony Hamilton, real soulful. Y'all outta DC?

amended list...

1. Jadakiss - None of yall betta
2. The Roots - Break you off
3. Mobb Deep - Shook ones pt 2

For a long time I wondered where that came from.

I'm the only one outta DC. The first verse was Big Syke (of Thug Life); he ain't part of the Slaves. Napoleon (the second MC) is from Jersey (he was part of Dramacydal and the Outlawz) but he's left for personal reasons. The chorus was Aman, they're two Bay Area brothers, one of them is our producer. I wasn't with them at the time that mixtape dropped but I'm on the upcoming stuff next year, God Willing.

It was a dream experience kinda, sending an e-mail to some of my favorite MCs and getting taken in. I remember how shocked I was at first (still kinda am.)
