I was excited about my first condenser. Then after reading some posts here, I thought why did I bought it??.
5 years ago I choose the MXL990 because my budget was low. Then a few months later I added a pair of MXL603, I´m MXL guy, you know :o
I´ve recorded 3 albums with them, not bad at all I think. Last year I bought an SP B1, despite of being a $99 mic it´s an improvement to me.

The first condenser mics that I used were a pair of Neumann U-67's. I just wish that I had owned them rather than just using the studio that they were in. The first condensers that I owned were a pair of Tascam PE-120's that I purchased direct from Teac when I worked for a Teac dealer. Needless to say, they didn't quite match up to the U67's.

I have yet to purchase a LDC.(along with any studio equipment) But I'm building a list to know how much money I'll need. I just read all 19 pages of this thread and it has me a little skeptical. The placement of my studio will be in a single room(not very big). I was assuming computer and all would go in here. I don't really have room for a separate vocal room, etc. My wife is basically doing me a favor by allowing me to place my studio in the same room as where our clothes racks will be... ^_^ sooo, yea. I was looking at getting the SE 2200a or for a little bit cheaper the Rode NT1A. After reading all these posts it's making me a little apprehensive about buying an LDC if they pick up so much noise. Seeing as I will be recording Electric guitar, acoustic, sax, and vocals... I'm not sure which direction I should head. I only have money to purchase one mic..and buying the SE 2200a for 300 bucks is pushing it... So any input. When I get some time I could post a picture of the room and you guys tell me what you think. ^_^ Thanks for the humor.

Mine was/is an Audio Technica AT2035. Loved it. Still love it. Lol. My first reaction was, "HOLY SMOKES O.O," haha I thought it was the most amazing thing in the world, and I thought I sounded so professional with it. It picked up everything, and clearly too. I was impressed to say the least :D

AKG Perception 100.
Absolutely loved it.
Recorded an album with that and a pair of Behringer C2s.
Finally let it go last Christmas but am pretty well sold on the brand.
I'm now using the AKG Solid Tube for Vocals and the AKG C2000B (Which I bought here) for guitar.

I cannot say the feeling, yeah, just like you said.I have some SM-57's.

"Other" - My very first mic. was a condenser so I had nothing to compare it to.

Exactly. My first 7 or 8 mics were all condensers--it was much later that I bought a few dynamics.

How about ribbon microphones? How do they compare to a condenser mic? Are they better is some ways? Worse?

My first microphone was and is a large diaphram cardoid condenser. (Audio Technica 2035)
