Your favorite brand of Acoustic Guitar?

With the most overrated/overpriced acoustic guitar poll up, I thought it would be interesting to see what your favorite brand of acoustic guitar is, and why. So vote away.

The coolest guitar I ever had the pleasure of playing was a J. Zeidler -- just amazing. It was used and the price was $10,000
Really a shame he died at such a young age. His guitars were beautiful.

Santa Cruz makes really good guitars in the 2K-3K range -- light, resonant, and terrific tone, balance, volume, projection.

On the really cheap end Alvarez makes a good guitar...many of my students in the past had them for around $200-400 and they were pretty impressive for a cheap import student guitar.

From the list, I have to go with the Martin. Although, I didn't see takamine on the list. I have a nice electro-acoustic EAN-40CX.

You left Larrivee off that list. Not that I would vote for them over Santa Cruz, but they are an excellent company.

That's an impossible question for me to answer. If I was doing blue grass I'd want a pre war Martin D-28. I have a 74 D-41 and a 55 000-18 and I love them both. But I've played some Breedloves and Goodalls that played like butta and very chesty resonant tone. Beautiful guitars. My taylor (Grand Auditorium sized) is no slouch either. And these are just steel stringed guitars. Let's talk about nylon/classical instruments...

A good friend of mine as a killer Santa Cruz. I hate playing it....

I'm happy with my Taylor 110, though. For the price I haven't played anything better.

I also *really* like a Guild 12-string another friend of mine lent me for a while. Crisp and full- too bad I had to give it back.

Anyway- a significant amout of the sound on acoustics comes from the player and how its played. I've surprised people with how good a crappy, old, half broken Applause roundback can sound- but I've been it playing almost 16 years.

And I think it pays to buy a well kept used acoustic if you're not getting a top of the line handmade beauty. They tend to age well and you can't buy that...

I have a Fender 12 string, Gemini II Series, very full sound, and also a spanish handmade (????) nylon string classical (Alambra) that is just a treat and a pleasure to play. Very vibrant and full sounding even on the G.B. and E strings, with a solid cedar top!!!

Larrivee is probably the best bang for the buck guitar on the market.
Of course I am biased... who isn't when it comes to acoustics.
I just love the sound you can get from these guitars for under 1K.

Although I played an Everett at 'The Podium' in Minneapolis and it was a great guitar. Really 'live'.

Im love my Seagull. I own an Art & Lutherie as well and its great for the money. My seagull a cedar guitar and its very distinct. Low action. Makes a great blues and soloing accoustic.

Holy Crap! I know Jamon and he used to build one with any specs you want for $2700 and that was only a very few years ago. Maybe go straight to the source. You can get his info from Buddy Rodgers Music in Fairfield Ohio. He did setups and repairs for several of my guitars.

died? shoot i saw him at his new shop last week! he lives in Rising Sun Indiana now has the Zeidler music center and teaches guitar lessons. he had an amazing violin that i would love to have but its $600 that i don't have. a band i sat in with playing bass had one of his guitars in it playing lead. really nice guitar it was and the player was even better.... sure wish i could get those guys to play out again... but who said he died? i am sure he would like to know that

on another note the guitar that i would pick would have to be Gretsch i have one of the ones made in Japan and it rocks all night long when i am out working it hard. i also happen to think that Seagull and the family of Godin line has some great stuff for the buck, i have a Parlour from them that i write with sometimes.

I own a master series Breedlove acoustic and a Yairi folk cut-away. Also, I think one of the nicest guitars I've ever seen and heard is a Santa Cruz F-series model. That thing is insane!! comes in around the 5g's bill tho. MERCY!
