Ok, I put this together today and I have to warn you it is really cheesy.

I used to watch Chip's when I was a little boy and I would cry if I missed the theme song.

I loved the long chase scenes with really cool disco music, SO I decided today to write my tribute-to-Chip's-chase-scene-song.

Song is called "Chip's."

Enjoy! Just me on bass, guitar, Dr-5 and of course our lovely MR-8. I used club tracks to mix the samples and final mix.

Clif,
As usual, very good work. I still can't get over the levels you get without clipping. Do you use any indicators other than the led on the mr8. I would love to have a couple of good old fashion Vu meters somewhere in the chain. I hate these led's, they just don't show me what I want to see.

yeah I just play it safe and keep my levels around 12 on the MR-8. That leaves me rom to boost it with the mastering effects or to crank it up a couple of decibals with club tracks etc.

Thanks for listening:)

D Good recording job. Nice funky Bass chops.

You have entirely too much time on your hands! Get over the deprived childhood!

I haven't officially grown up yet at least that is what my wife says.

Ya, but what a great way to spend some of that extra time.

Yeah, it's pretty good, as songs go. Really nice bass!

Parts of it has a cheesy made for daytime tv sound to it, but it's more cool than cheesy. Not a bad production for a tiny littly box. I've heard [done] worse. Nice use of sound effects.

Man, you really did hit a time warp with that one. Way to go!!!!!!!!!

Wow, both tunes cool. Nice that you can do that much with the MR8. Have you used other multi's and how do you like this one?

I used some others and this one is good for me in most ways except for EQ. But with better mics and pre's its not so much of an issue lately, plus i'm into minimal production if any.

I used to have a Tascam 464 but I didn't use it much and I always botched the recording with too much EQ. The MR-8 forces me to focus on the sound before it goes "to tape" but if I need EQ I'll probably use it with club tracks.

I was also a "lab instructor" fothe studio at the university I attended. It was an ADAT with a huge mackie board etc. Again I bothced many recording because I didn;t know what I was doing.

Great job Clif!! I tripped everyone out here at work when the siren came on (I work at a hospital). I've got to get some multitrack software for my computer. What is the difference between clubtracks and n-track?

I don't know too much about n-track but club tracks is older cake walk looping/mixing software. A simple program that has 8 tracks to work with. I am sure at some point that I may want to upgrade to a different program with more tracks, but I got CLub Tracks for 10.00 and it's just so EASY to use!

Thanks for checking out my tune!

Pretty basic stuff like chorus, flanger, delay, parametric EQ, amp sim lite (?), reverb. That is about all it is. I try to use the MR-8 effects if I can so that I don't have to do too much to the mix when It hits my PC, again I like to keep things simple.

Hey Clif, good job dude! That's a nice tune. You certainly got the 70s feel down pat. I also enjoyed your guitar work. Very cool sound.

What did you use for the synth sound? What kind of keyboard do you have?

I'm very impressed. Keep the tunes coming!!!

Looking forward to hearing more.... and from others in this forum as well. :D

Thanks:)

I used a Boss DR-5 for the drums and synth work. Pretty much a glorified drum machine. Not the best sounds but very easy to program. So to answer your question, I don't even have a keyboard. I used to have a ROLAND XP-50 but I never used it so I sold it.
