i played percussion when i was a kid in school. i never had the desire to play drum corp shit. i picked up the guitar and forgot all about that stuff all together.

Well, it ain't "stuff". It takes a LOT of dedication and practice. I played two years in an open class DCI corp, and it was the best musical experience in my life! If I could have found rock band members that would practice even half as much as drum and bugle corp people did, I would have had the tightest band in the world!
