Yorkville Monitors

You'll want to use some high-quality cable between your active monitors and your mixer (or soundcard) output......

It's not like speaker cable where you can essentially get away with zip cord. The difference in cable on line-level signals is far less subtle.

Look at cable by Canare, Mogami, Gepco, even Monster if you have money to burn (Monster is good cable, but generally overpriced....)

is this high quality speaker wire only necessary for the active monitors or is it also beneficiary to the passive monitors...i just use some regular old speaker wire for my Yorky's..not extremely cheap but not name brand either

If they are YSM1P's (powered monitors) you need to use shielded cable from the sound card/mixer to the speaker. Not speaker wire. If it is the YSM1 (non-powered) you do use speaker wire from the power amp to the speaker. The way I have mine set up is: Crown jack cables from my Audiophile output to the input of a little mixer I have. Then the mixer output to my Yorkville YSM1P's. All shielded cable. BTW the Yorkvilles take a 1/4" guitar jack as an input connector. I have the mixer in between just to control the volume going to the Yorks. I like to have a physical volume control going to the speakers. And besides, I have other amps and speakers hooked up to it so I can listen to different sets of speakers.

Thanks anyway, but I had already bought them. You missed my post above. I have found that the XLR cables would be the best way to go to hook them up. I need to get some from MarkerTek.
