Yo everyone check out this white boys raps

  • Thread starter Thread starter Crazyrap
  • Start date Start date
My point was that the lyrics are not always what they seem to be. They are often "images" depicted thru words...and that's were the different perceptions comes in. If the rapper hates you, wants to slit your throat and all of that, it's more than often just ink on the paper. It's a way of expressing his anger in a manner that will intrigue the listener. It's not pleasing for the market (of today) (not moneywise...earwise) to have a guy express his anger in a mild way...it won't get thru to the listener.

Ofcourse there's the entertainment value...but come one where's the entertainment in the first post of this thread? I find it ridiculous...not even close to entertaining.
There's different kinds of rap, I know...but I wouldn't put "crazyrap's" stuff in any other category than "insecure kid full of bullshit"

I TOTALLY AGREE ! ! !

who cares if he is trying to be something hes not...
those lyrics would be garbage if he was on death row.

too many people emcee these days. everyone thinks since they have heard 50 cent's new album they can grab a pen.
problem is, 50 cent is garbage too.
forget white people, its people like you that give hip-hop a bad name.

and sweetnubs, i will look at your comments as ignorance.
i bet if i gave you my cd collection you would be a hip-hop fan.
deep thought provoking hip-hop does exist people.
you just wont catch it on MTV.

Hoooold on there...that's taking it just to far man, boarderline racism...
Though there's alot of white people trying to fit into the "N-word" category, it doesn't mean we shouldn't get a shot at the game. I'm white...You won't see me trashing every african fellow trying out for a goldmedal in say...skiing...? Actually I saw this guy from Kenya (I think) a couple of years back. He had no chance in hell to reach top 3...finished last...less than perfect training opportunities, poorly trained...but you know what...damn! That's some heavy shit right there! What goes thru your mind when you enter a competition and you know you don't stand a snowballs chance in hell? He's got huevos...balls to at least make an effort and represent. Which is more than alot of the forum members here would do.
Before one of you smartasses dog me cause "that's exactly what crazyrap did...", made an effort and represented. Take a deep breath and think for a second. That's not "representing", that's just "trying make it, the fake way".

Ethos...who are we most likely to hear about? Streetstyle mc's...? or mtv's bling busters...? Who get's the most publicity...? Bling busters...cause that's the shit we hear about and go to the store to buy. I'm talking about the average joe here...not the dedicated hip hopper. The dedicated ones know that there's good music to get from the streets, from indies and streetstyle crews. No doubt, there's good stuff to get, but I'm sorry to say: It doesn't get all that much publicity. Hence...that sort of hip hop is for the average people: "Nawh...seriously...? Is there such a thing?"
The average "I listen to the radio music" are the ones that sets the standard in the long run/the big picture whether we like it or not, that's the way shit goes down...

"When sales control stats i place no faith in the majority"

I agree...but it's often a fact...

I may be wrong 92, but I think he was saying "The fact that he is white is unimportant.........I think he just was attacking his character and rhyme making capablibity"

Right on!

There IS quality, intelligent Hip-Hop out there...but you would'nt know that by watching MTV or listening to the radio.

ok fair enough. Give me names of some quality hippity hoppers, links, mp3 files etc. I will then tell you why it sucks. I will be fair though in the sense if I actually do like it (probably won't) I will tell you so. Some things to keep in mind . . . I find dj shadow to be uninteresting, I don't think it's clever if someone inserts a sample from a classical music passage into their hippity hop, I don't like KRS-one and his faux manufactured canned spirituality and those of his ilk, I completely dislike preaching in the sense of someone telling someone else how they ought to live spiritually, morally, etc. or about why you should be more like the person spittin' out da rhymes, I don't like two- note repetitive basslines, the sound of drum machines, any form of chorusing or flange whatsoever, delays or echoes to emphasize certain words along with double tracking certain words for emphasis or double tracking at all for that matter, of course it goes without saying all references to guns, money, bitches ho's, cash and bling are out as is all fundamentalist religious references, no tr808 please, any sort of Jazz/Hip-hop cross pollination is completely forbidden, no George Clinton or James Jamerson samples please, no hi-pitched background analog (or digital) synth sounds, of course the da-da-dum da-dee-da-dum drum rhythm is completely off limits. Shall I list more?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........

This is a VERY interesting thread.

But note a lot of these things I list I do like when it occurs early Dub music, back when it was original if you get the hint . . .

wow...you got the wrong idea. i am white. i emcee. in no way was i saying white people give hip-hop a bad name.
i was saying, he dosnt give white people a bad name. he gives hip-hop a bad name.
i can see why you took it how you did. did kind of look like thats what i was saying.

i agree. of course the average listener is more likely to hear about
mainstream "bling buster" artists. it sucks, but thats how it is.
i was simply attempting to let the average listeners know, that better hip-hop does exist.

personally, i like the fact that not a whole lot of people know the artists i listen to. makes the music more personal for me. also, i can identify more with the people who listen to the same stuff as i do.

sweetnubs, im not going to take the time to post my collection, but i'll drop a few names for you to check out.

Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Deep Puddle Dynamics, Qwel, company flow,
illogic, Sole, Dose One, Sage Francis, Mr. Lif, Vast Air....

if you want more just ask.

I have read this over and over and I have really realized that allmost everyone has great arguments. You can learn a lot from people like 92 and ethos and Trumpspade. We all need to take a look at this from all angles.

all I have to say is rap about what ever you feel like rapping about get signed get a record deal I dont really care really. I'm a keep doing my thing and as long as I'm doing what I feel I can care less what everyone else is doing unless they are working with me on something. Hip hop is an artform. If you dont like the art than it's okay like what ever you gonna like. Still dont mean its gonna disappear it's gonna be here for a long time. Oh yeah I spit too and I'm black.

It's not about black or white or Mexican or Asian Or whatever!

It is about not sounding COMPLETELY FAKE, rap about what you know I 'll respect you for it. Rap about something you obvoiusly have no clue about and I'm gonna say your fraud.

i feel what your saying. but theres damn near no originality outside of undergeound hip-hop. (thane1200's list shows the exceptions to this).
too many people are attempting to copy what they see on TV.
so yes, rap about what you feel but like you said, its an artform,
look for ways to say it different from ways its been said already.
be creative.
