okay, after some very good info on the Fender Princeton 1968 (which as I can't try it, i won't buy it)...

how about a Fender Vibrochamp 1968...this one I am about to try. Just wondering what people think of it. Very low wattage. 6, I believe, which is fine for recording, but rather small for jamming.

Anyone use something like this for jamming? Live? Can it stand up with a 57 stuck in the hole?

Champs have their own sound. To me, when cranked they sound more like a Vox than a Fender, very raw, early rock 'n rollish. Its great for recording, but won't cut it with a live drummer. Vintage stuff is great, but if it hasn't had the electrolytics replaced, it will need that, tubes maybe...could get expensive. I have an old blackface champ that I bought used around 1973 for $25.00. It has pretty much set idle this whole time, got the bug a while back to restore it. I just received my order yesterday from Antique Electronics for replacement caps and tubes. You might want to check out the Epiphone Galaxie 10 - very similiar to the Champ, a little more power and a 10" speaker instead of 8". $199.00 at Musician's Friend and other fine retailers...
