Laminate flooring is relatively cheap and doesn't have to be permanent.

I got mine from a local discount hardware store called HOBO's I paid $125 for my laminate flooring to do a 10'x11' room. Which is pretty cheap. Cuts are a lot easier if you have a good table saw. You will need to get some type of molding and or quarter round molding to cover up the gaps on the wall. (Instructions actually suggest having gaps for when the wood contracts and expands.) Anyway, I did not glue my pieces together cause they snap together but I would suggest glueing them together (Instructions do say to glue them together.) as well because while walking on it 2 or 3 of my pieces developed little gaps that I don't like.

I also used their foam padding to lay on top of my existing plywood. They say its only necessary if your doing a concrete floor but it helps still. Also while your doing that you could look into a more sound absorbtive material to go under their but its expensive... The standard stuff they sell cost $20 a roll and I was able to manage with one roll minus a little corner of the room with no under padding. ;)

Good luck.

Cool...

Looks kinda dark in there! But it also looks like a comfortable place to work/play. Thanks for posting the pics.

Yup.. Lighting is a major issue.. I should get that lamp I posted about earlier... Let it hang over mix position, from the front of the room, pointing towards me... I should re-read my own thread.. I've forgotten half of what I wrote about...lol

Your welcome on the pix... I've been meaning to do it for a while..

Sweet pix man, Looks like an intresting LP collection.
I could see Steppenwolf, I`m sure there are some other greats in there.
Jugding from your sweet selection of Keys, you might have some Wakeman stuff :D

cheers man :)

Hey Peritus!

Looks like you are starting the same thing I am getting ready to start (finally yeah I know  )

Nice pics man and I will post mine in my soon to be studio thread in the near future. Our rooms are similar if you remember my previous thread where you posted some suggestions on layout etc.

You could even use the idea you gave me about the folding (bi-fold) closet style doors made with 703 panels. That could be a good way to close off the closet and give you some decent absorption.

Anyways, good luck and I am sure we will be in each others threads with comments and suggestions ~
