Thanx alot Phil, your comments are always well appreciated and taken seriously. I've already re-wq'the guitars a little bit since I put up the version that starts this thread, just haven't posted the newer version. Anyway, I'd rather get comments on the same version to see if people's observations are pretty much along the same lines. I know that Ecktronic said the guitars "really let the the track down". While I don't think it was THAT bad, it did get me to re-eq them a bit. I can keep an open mind when it comes to my lack of perfection...lol.
Thanx.

Hey Snkaedog, I can't find the post where you mentioned that 3 of us here have songs on the top 20 at Soundclick. Pretty funny, I'm at #3 with No More Mr. Nice Guy...I wish it meant something.

It's in the immigrant song thread (which is catching up to you at #7... beware    )

The other thing is that I now have a much greater appreciation of Alice as a vocalist. This is not an easy song to sing

I agree Alice is underrated as a vocalist. And you are right - this is not an easy song to sing and your vocals are right on the money :D

Excellent job on everything else as well - I've listened to to this every night this week.....

This song suits you and your playing style. Nice varied guitar tones. The most aggressive drumming from you I've heard yet. Great job on the vocals, RAMI.

Rami, I guess what I mean is, and I hear this alot in recordings, nothing wrong at all, but I am guessing there is compression on the vocals, or something like that, making them seem distant, as if you could scream into the mic and it wouldn't make a difference in the volume level. I am new to all this, so bear with me. My recordings are much different in character, the vocals more up front as though I am sitting right next to you, but alot of mixes I hear are more distant sounding, as though the singer is far away from the mic or something. Maybe it is due to less input level. Anyway, that is the best I can do to explain.

Great performance RAMI! The balance in the drumset is perfect IMO. Drums are great... I have a mental picture of you playing drums and in it you look like the drummer, Dino Danelli, from the Rascals in a vid clip I saw recently from a "Best music from the Ed Sullivan Show" DVD. The guy played his ass off in a super articulate way, and when his hands weren't a blur from playing he was twirling the sticks or doing various lightning fast non-drumming arm movements.

Vox intonation is right on. The ending sounds tough to sing with the range going so high (and oddly Beatle-ish). But even that part’s right on the mark.

Good gtr playing. Really like the L side guitar... good lines. I haven't heard the original so don't know if the gtr lines are your writing or from the orig., but either way, really well done.

I think perhaps the gtrs and vox could have an EQ tweak in the lower mids, maybe going up a half or 1 dB around 300-400 Hz. Bass could come up a little too, I think.

Good work buddy.

Tim

Supercreep-Thanx alot buddy. I like this tune and just hope I did it justice.

Rick-Seems to me that what you're decribing is the result of compression and to a lesser extent, eq. Compression limits the output of a signal so that even if you scream, the volume doesn't neccassarilly rise as much.

Tim-If you don't know the original of this song, you really should check it out. For the time (1974), it is so well produced and very sweet sounding. I stripped it down from the original as far as the amount of guitars and vocals. And I wish I could take credit for that slidey guitar you're talking about, but it's in the original also. Thanx alot.

really nice work. I like to hear a little more growl on the guitar tracks.

Cool Toki...Do you mean more distortion, or do you mean more aggressive in the actual approach to the playing?

jus a little fatter sounding. Like maybe lift the mids a bit.

RAMI,
Just had to put in my two cents. Totally awesome dude. Great job, especially on vocals. The song fits your voice to a T!

Im working on a cooper song too (Only Women Bleed), but is not finished as yet. I cant get the synth voices quite right and it needs a drum track.

Here is what we have so far if you care to listen. Much work left to do. I'd love to try some male vocals on this.

Studio Files

Second song on the list. Im anxious to complete this. Care to try the vocals?

Hey hawk...I'd love to do the vocals to this. Shit, that girl's got a sweet voice though. It would be hard to top that. But I could do it as close to the original as possible. Great arrangement you have going there. If you want I can put real drums on it, too. But that;s up to you. Anyway, let me know if and how you want me to do the vocals (and drums if you want).

Rami
Thanx man. That is my daughter Lindsay singing. it is her first recorded vocal. She is only 17 and she is doing a whole lot better than I was at that age.

Vox and drums,...hell yes. Especially drums. Just let me know what you need. Im using Cakewalk 4 Sonar prod Ed. I can give you a WAV minus drums, with metronone, whatever you need.

Mark

Hey...Yeah, A wav with no drums and with click would be perfect. Or even better, instead of a click, A very straight drum machine beat, simple bass drum on 1 and 3, snare on 2 and 4 with 8th note high hats. Something like that. Should be fun.

Great, gimme a day or so to prepare it and I'll email it to you.

I just listened to your track again. Holy shit...that thing smokes. Great job.

Thanx alot!

Sounds good. It might take me a few days to finish it because I'm doing some drum tracks for someone else online this week as well, but I will get to it as soon as I can, probably by the week end.

Hi Rami
I emailed a link to the files. Please let me know if you have any problems

Thanks!
