Ok, I've searched the site & read reviews but I've ended up with a list of good microphones lost on which one I want to try more than the other so I figured I'd take somewhat of a poll on which one you personally prefer for vocals (home recording as opposed to live sound), below is a list of microphones I've seen recommended here & I've heard good things about, pick one & if you don't mind explain why.

Marshell MXLV67
Marshall MXLV77S
Audio Technica 4033SM
Rode NTK
Rode NT1
Rode NT2
Studio Projects C1
Shure SM58
Shure KSM27
Shure KSM32
Shure BETA87A
AKG 3000B

Now how the hell did the Rode NT1 come on your list. I believe everybody on this forum agreed to only use this mike in a certain combination with dogs.

NTK if you have $400 to spend... you'll LOVE it, guaranteed.

C1 if you want a very good mic at a bargain price.

Downside, surprisingly I found some good comments on it going through old posts lol

Gidge, your one of the main reasons I put that mic up.. you swear by it so much you've got my curiosity going :)

Buck62, I'm trying to stay under / around $500 but I'm also not going to put a limit on quality cause I'd end up spending that much buying less quality mics anyway just more gradual.. I've heard a lot of good things about the NTK.. btw/ how did you come up with your moniker?

If you wanted to GIVE me any mic on that list, it would be the NTK...hands down...

but if i have to pay for this baby, $149 for the v67 and $499 for the NTK....theres just so many issues i can address with the money...better cables...better preamps....some room treatment......

just make sure your signal chain is tight all the way through...a NTK thru a Behringer mixer will sound like crap......

in closing, make sure you tend to your entire signal chain....

Yeah I hear you, I'm worried about what cables to get oddly enough... plus my room has a horrible reverb effect but I might be moving soon so I'm praying to serendipity lol. I'm planning to get a MAudio DMP2 or JoeMeek VC6Q with the mic I pick out, I've heard they are good for vocals.. what do you think?

oh'yeah i'm going with audiophile sound card that you recommended too.. i'm going to be broke after buying all this lol

Yeah, I have a v67 going into a DMP2 (stole it new for $79 from AudioMidi.com)go into an Audiophile...very decent chain for the price...before i do any serious recording, ill be making my own cables...check thru the arhives for topics on this as it is the most cost effective way to do it.....

if i had the $$ i probably would have went with a Meek...i may still get a VC3Q($199) when i find some money.....

if you have all that to buy you may want to start with the v67....yes the NTK will sound better.....but will it sound $350 better?....thats one you have to answer.....

true... & from the sales I see, a shock mount doesn't come with it.. don't you just hate mic huntin' lol

www.abemusic.com

try here on the v67...they include the shockmount and a cheesy cable for $199, but if you ask, theyll usually match Mars price of $149......

How does the mxlv67 match up to the akg 3000b? & don't you have to get a speical kind of cable for the mxlv67?
