with my mixer....(behringer 802a)
all mics (XLR or 1/4") into thier holes - even if they are not to be used with phantom power.....THEN phantom on?

phantom on....then insert mics?

Do your patching, then turn on phantom power. When disconnecting, turn off the power, then disconnect.
