Peavey ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, 2 years ago I realized my laptop would make a great studio- and just in time because my 4-track died shortly afterwards. N-track was the program of choice: cheap, full-featured, and worked well. I didn't like that it crashed every 30 minutes, but I saved often and drank more coffee while it rebooted. ;)

After 6 months or so I was getting good with it and making some decent quality stuff. Then I discovered stereo micing.

WHOA!! Jump back! The acoustic guitar sounds REAL!! Only one problem- the laptop has no stereo input.

Bummer! I picked up a Tascam US-428 (which bumped me up to 4 inputs! With a control surface, too!) but, to my everlasting dismay, it did not work or play well with n-track. :( And neither would any other USB devices- the only option I had for that laptop.

So I "upgraded" to Cubase (which I am very happy with) but still help friends record in n-track. Some things are just so EASY in n-track (drawing volume and pan changes, for example) that I sometimes pine for it.

Well, I checked the website yesterday and...lo!...the latest version update supports the US-428! Joy! One download and install later I verified it- the control surface works, the ins and outs work.

Now I have my choice of which program to use. Too cool. Flavio continues to amaze me with this program.

Sorry, just had to share my elation. :D

That's good to know...

I'm planning on getting a US-224 soon, strictly as a mixing board, so the knowledge that the control surfaces work sounds way cool.

It won't record to MIDI with my resident soundcard (it crashes if I try to do so, or if I don't use the card's ASIO drivers, which actually may not be a bad thing), but I got Nyotx's VirtualAudioCable and output everything to Cool Edit 2000.

As a strictly audio software tho', can't be beat!

Yep, Flavio's the man

I plugged in my brand Spankin' new US-224 last night, N-Track recognized it and now all is well with ASIO drivers.

Way ta go, FLAVIO!!!
