I use it all the time on my kick, and bass cab. I have two, and they remain in use daily. You need to use a 'regular' mic in addition to them, but I think they are GREAT for the price!
 
I used it in the studio. A little goes a long way. Decided to build my own because I had a 6" speaker laying around. Coupla pieces of wood and sheetrock screws, an XLR and bam- had my own version (without the drum) which I've used live a number of times. Everyone wants to know what it is, especially visiting soundmen. It KILLS live. Usually picks up bleed from the bass too and puts a smile on the bass player. Has a natural roll off at about 100Hz. It's all sub frequemcies. You'll need a normal mic on the kick as well, as was mentioned already.
 
I've never used it, but I've heard it used. Definitely a noticable difference, definitely cool, though I have no money so I'll never buy one. Maybe just make one.
