Anybody have a feel for a fair price for a used (reportedly in good condition) Yamaha Rev5??

I looked at e-bay and one sold recently for $305. There are a couple of very low bids currently, but since there are still days/hours to go, those bids mean little

I know someone who wants to sell an REV5 (actually they are selling a whole bunch of stuff) but they don't want to go the ebay/classified add route. They plan to sell everything to Music-Go Round (a used gear place) and I know they will get a very low price.

I would like to buy the REV5 - which still shows up in a lot of studio racks, and I want to be fair to both the seller and myself - before she dumps everything to this used gear store.

A few years ago, I had the address of a web site that tracked used gear pricing (they followed various web sites and listed average prices). They would also indicate if the item was decreasing/increasing or holding steady. In some cases they would list the original list price. I never saves the site as a favorite and now I can' recall the site:(

Does anybody know the link to such a site????

Thanks in advance for anyones help!!!

Mike... I hope it's not too late, but here's a site that does exactly what you need (tho, they don't have a REV5 listed):

PrePal

Pre Pal is the site I was thinking of. Thank you for your reply. I will save this for future reference.

Your reply was not too late the seller and I are still "negotiating". As often happens, she has not bought gear in a while so she does not appreciate how much prices drop.

I think she beleives her REV5 is still worth $600 and I think it's worth less than $300 (based on some recent ebay auctions

Maybe not less than $300, but probably around $300 or so, depending on condition. If it is mint and has the manual and remote, then add some to the price for that as well. $600 is too high, at least right now.

Thanks for the input - I thought I could maybe go to $300. These are older units, however I know they have a lot of control parameters which make then a good studio tool (I still see alot of studio gear lists that include an REV5.

I want the REV5, but I'm not prepared to pay "top dollar" when there are so many other affordable units out there!!

The REV5 is a totally pro piece of gear. I used to have one, and bought it new for around $1,395 when they were still being manufactured. In my opinion you can't find anything new for $300 that will match it.

It sounds fairly similar to the TC M3000 in my opinion. I own an M3000, and when I still had the REV5 I did a comparison test one night. I was very surprised at how similar they sound, and how the design of the reverbs is fairly similar as well. There's no doubt in my mind that the engineers at TC studied the REV5 closely.

The TC M3000 is obviously a newer unit, quieter and with smoother reverb tails, but there's a signature to the sound that is similar. So I think the REV5 is a good deal at that price range.

Thank you so much for the additional comments. I've nevered worked with a REV5 but I have worked a little with the M3000 - so your comparison was of value!

I've read good things about the REV5 and as indicated have seen them on a lot of gear lists.

Now I at least know that going to the $300 or maybe a little over range would likely be worth it.
