I am not sure if this is the correct place for this question but here goes ... Can I get some evaluations of the Yamaha QY700 Sequencer? I am in the "checking out" stage prior to purchasing a sequencer. My main instrument is guitar so eventually I would like to get a midi pickup, etc. for my guitar and enter data that way. For the time being, I will attempt to step write.

Currently, I have a Mac computer as well although it is an older G-3. I was surprised to discover that the QY700 saves to floppy disks. Aren't these on the way out?

Any discussion regarding this is welcome.

Get the QY-700, this is the greatest learning machine on the planet as far as converting Guitar to MIDI, this is another domain. As for step sequencing th QY-700 is par excellence. Hope this helps. Old time sequencer!

the qy700 is still great for one reason alone ....its limitations.

limitations breed creativity!

what i mean by this is it is like getting into old school sequencing without all the distracting bells and whistles that you get with a daw...but it still makes it all very easy and accesible.

so you can get on with sequencing without getting caught up in the tech ...when you start to play off different sequence patterns to different sound modules against each other using all the hardware keys the magic starts to happen in real time in a very organic way and it makes it all seem so easy.

you can then take patterns and straight away apply one finger intelligent appregio style chord changes to that to easily constuct a song.

this is very old school in a very good way.:)
