OK, have I got this right?

The Hammerfall has three ADAT optical interfaces. The Yamaha desk can be upgraded to also have that amount of ADAT opitcal interfaces.

THe point of this ?

If I am running Cubase 5 or SX does this mean that say I have 24 tracks of audio on the PC I can run each one into it's own track on the mixer via ADAT and mix externally using the Yamaha mixer? If so that would be ideal. Can Cubase assign that many outputs?

I don't have the answer to that but someone on your side of the pond may.

Paul White of SOS mag reviews the 01V96 in the August issue. You post the ? at the SOS forum you might be able to get a reply from him.

Yeah, that's where I originally saw the review and though it might be a good addition to my setup. (Not right now but in the hopefully not too distant future I must admit.)

I don't know the 01v(96) that well, but a close friend of me runs a studio off a 02R (old version) with 3 ADAT cards into a Hammerfall-SX setup, mixing on the board, recording to the computer.
Works perfect, and if he'd put a little more time in it I bet he could use the 02R as controlsurface for MIDI tracks too (but he's not into that).

Cubase can assign that many outputs. I don't know its limits, but 24 is definitely possible.
