I have the opportunity to buy a yamaha MC1602 for $100. I really don't need 16 inputs but in the future i may be able to use them.

Basic question is, is this a steal for $100?

Thanks

Dan

Actually, I think the price is about right. The preamps on them are "ok" but are certainly noisy. They also do not have a whole lot of headroom. The EQ's are decent though:) It will probably need a good cleaning (from the inside). My bet is that after a cleaning it will actually sound better:)

the yamaha replacement for these (mg1602) sell new at GC for 249 GC cost is about 120-130 for a new one, check the pres etc, make sure the sound is clean, (Check it through YOUR gear) if it needs to be cleaned find out how much it will cost if you cant do it yourself, you dont want to ospend 150$ to clean it and 100 to buy it for a used mixer when u can get a new one for 250.

other than that, I have an MG24/14fx and it works well for live sound that requires a smaller board and quick setup. I have anough routing options for a standard 5 piece with 2-3 vocals.

My $0.02
