I wish I could play one of these. Even the LS or LL models that are not built in Japan look very interesting, considering you can get one for $750.

I don't know if you guys have seen this, but here's a You Tube video of the factory.

And a pretty cool .pdf here

Wish someone where I live carried these/:mad:

That's nice for the video, but how many steps get cutout for the rest of them?

As nice as I'm sure they are, there is not one grain of truth in the claims that they make concerning original ideas, techniques or methods. Most makers from the smallest to the biggest have done or still do exactly the same as they do. Most always have done it just like that.

What you are not seeing there is the large amount of cnc work that goes into each part before it s put to the "craftsman". Nothing wrong with that I have many methods of taking the hog work out of prepping stuff, but why hide the fact to give an impression that it is entirely handcrafted.

Final comment on the "craftsman" thing and this is my take on it. Most of those folk are not old enough to have finished a regular apprenticeship let alone be considered craftsman yet. They are trained to be task specific, to me ain't a craftsman.

They also make some very spurious claims about the superiority of their methods and designs in terms of resonance.

I could spend quite a while picking holes in the video but shall spare you all. Just remember it's an advert for Yamaha guitars. Nice spin all the same.

Well I have not played an L Series guitar but I do own a few Yamaha products and they have never let me down for the money.

Frankly though of hand crafted guitars I think Eastman is a better deal.

Yamaha's are are great I have nothing but good words for their instruments, especially in the student and mid range. Its their claims of being inovative and uniquely crafted that is a little over cooked.;)
