i just bought one at guitar center today..the guy said its the best i can get before i spend thousands on a taylor...what do you guys think about this guitar?
But I just picked up the FG750s and it is sweet. Sycamore back and sides, spruce top, nice inlays, buttery smooth neck. You can't really go wrong with Yamaha and the newer, higher end models are great!!
I spent about 2 hours at the local Guitar Center playing all the high end acoustic guitars. You know, Taylors,Martins,Takamines etc. Then I picked up the Yamaha and I was truly blown away by the sound. To me there wasn't $2000 difference in sound. So needless to say I'm very happy with mine. I found a place called Gitterpicker on the internet and they will do a setup and replace the plastic nut, saddles with bone and will also put in wooden bridgepins. I think the price is very reasonable and have heard that it will dramatically improve the sound. I haven't had it done yet but have asked for that to be my Christmas present. Anyway if you want to check out that site I believe it's just www.gitterpicker.com or something close. When I get the work done I'll let you all know what my opinion is. The price he quoted was less than $100.00. You guys take care and have a great holiday season, Chris.
Sorry to resurrect an old post. I don't mean to hijack but, with similar enthusiasm as gvarko's, I just want to say that I'm in love with the FG750S. I played it last weekend at Guitar Center and it was my favorite one there. It has a really full and defined sound with tons of clarity and projection. It plays like butter compared to every other acoustic I've ever played. It's just right!

I understand what you mean. I played $3000.00 Taylors, Martins etc. and there wasn't $2600 difference in sound ,playability, looks. Those other guys better watch out for these Yamahas.
