Yamaha DX-7 problems

I am looking for some help with the DX7. No sound output from either the phone or main out. The unit boots up with YAMAHA DX7 SYNTHESIZER in the main screen. There was a "replace battery" message on start-up, and the battery check diagnostic showed 4.8 volts (yes!). All buttons work, functions, yes/no, memory protect, etc.

I replaced the battery (CR2032), but it still shows the replace battery, and now the battery check shows 4.9v. No one seems to have heard that before.

I do not have a ROM card -- after replacing battery I needed to re-flash the SYSEX files. Unit doesn't respond to DX Manager 3 on MIDI channel 1 (set MEMORY PROTECT INTERNAL to OFF, FUNCTION 8: MIDI receive channel 1, SYSINFO AVAIL). I haven't tried another MIDI s/w. I used a EMU USB to MIDI cable, with latest drivers for XP.

The unit is in really good shape, no obvious signs of damage, shorts, etc, doesn't smell like smoke. MoBo is great, no spillage, burns. I haven't checked voltages on the power supply, that's the next step.

Anyone familiar with this type of issue?

Thanks in advance,

Jake
