4416 misinformation
Thee 4416 DOES have the ability, through the 4 OMNIOUTS, to receive and send signals (trs connectors). In fact, you can set up as many as 4 outboard effects processors if you want to....
Or you can use two for stereo headphone mixes. Hell, you can set up two separate head phone mixes since you can use the onboard effect proccessors (32k by the way!) for recording basics.
This is a hell of a unit. I've had one for about 4 months now and it's a very versitle unit. I disagree with Cave Dweller. It is WAY more professional than just a songwriting tool. It has dynamic, effect, pan and eq automation. It a very powerful tool in the right, creative hands. It's digital though, so you might want to invest in a few tube mic pres. I just got
a FatMan 5 and it works great to warm up the tracks (via a 12ax7 I think...)
There's a learning curve to it because you can route the signal any flippin' place you want. If you have experience with Yamaha digtal mixers, you'll take to this unit like a fish to water.
It seems to me, based on adverstising in mags, that this is the digital recorder that everyone is designing theirs after (subjective opinion), so it's defintely worth checking out. Good Luck.
