I have a couple questions about the AW16G burner.

1. Does it come standard? Every add shows it with the burner, but a couple times (possibly even at Yamaha's site), it says the burner is an optional component.

2. What speed does it burn at? And if you don't know the actual speed, how long does it take to burn a full cd? I can't find this info anywhere.

Thanks!

Dinsdale--

The CD burner is standard in the USA, but it might be optional elsewhere. It burns both CD-R and CD-RW at 8X. I just used mine for the first time, with perfect results, using Sony high-speed audio CD-Rs and RWs. So easy with all built into one unit, with decidated buttons and screens.

By the way, thanks again for setting up the soon-to-be site.

it's a "laptop" type cdrw. it pops out when you push the button but you have to phsically "shove" it back into the unit. seems a "bit" fragile but all reports indicate that i works just fine (just needs to be treated "gently").:)

Yo Dins:

Methinks through past discussions that the AW16 and the 4416 and the 2816 share similar functions but the AW16 has some different controls, like knobs, etc.

I'm sure you have to put your recording on the AW16 into a stereo track in order to burn a CDR or RW. So as to "TIME IT TAKES," to burn a CD, depends how many tunes you have ready. Like I have about 23 songs in my stereo track library so I punch up one and push the buttons and it takes anywhere from 3 to more minutes depending how long the song is. If I want to make a second burn of the same song, it's faster than the first cut. So, I can burn a second or third CD a bit faster.

Of course, you have to get the "sound" the way you like it and that takes time before you burn the CD. It's not really fast, even at 8x's. I'm sure future models will burn faster as "time" is money.

I have control buttons to push to open and close my CD drawer. However, I can push it in manually as well. I don't know if the AW16 has buttons to do this but the manual will tell you.
